This is a very special home that is private/gated, but also just a few minutes by car to Historic Downtown Nevada City.
Located just 2.5hrs from San Francisco and the Bay Area, the historic town of Nevada City (and nearby Grass Valley) delights visitors with access to the Tahoe Lake area (50min to Truckee), the Yuba River (10min), historic landmarks, great local shopping, hiking and biking trails.
The 'Round House' is fairly known by many locals as it was a formal gathering space, as a custom-built property sitting on 21 acres with views of the Sierras.
The main home has three round skylighted domes, two wings (3-beds, 2-baths on the west, and 1-bed, 1-bath plus yoga meditation room on the east), and the main 'Great Room' has 19ft-ceilings with a custom-built kitchen, fireplace and attached screen-in porch room that is perfect for family or friend gatherings.
Guests will love having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the screened-in porch, or taking a quick respite or workout in the yoga/meditation room.
Cozy up by the wood-burning fireplace in the winter, or the hot tub on chilly nights. The pool is salt-water and solar heated, great in most seasons but on the cold days.
This property is great for low-key family gatherings, and has a fully stocked kitchen (blender, waffle maker, coffee maker, utensils, pots/pans and two dishwashers). You need to bring paper towels, ground coffee and your own tupperware.
This is NOT a party house. We belong to an HOA that has strict noise ordinances after 10pm. We also have an on-site manager. She sometimes offers massage therapy. Please inquire at booking for availability.
This is a home that we use as a family regularly, so we ask that guests be respectful of our furnishings. Thank you.

Summary: The house is in a beautiful area and has a great layout with plenty of space, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, the home itself needs quite a bit of upkeep. The furniture was visibly worn—couches were dirty and ripped, and some of the pillows were stained. There were around 15 lightbulbs out throughout the house, making it feel dim and neglected.The kitchen was also very disorganized, which made it difficult to cook or find basic items. Any time we had a question, we were told to “read the manual,” which wasn’t very helpful and didn’t address our concerns.The biggest disappointment was the pool. It was dirty when we arrived and although the pool technician came, the water never got warm enough to swim—even with sunny weather every day. It stayed around 60 degrees the entire trip.For the price per night, we expected a much higher standard of cleanliness, comfort, and communication. With some attention and care, this could be a fantastic rental, but right now it falls short.

Summary: The pictures almost don’t do it justice! A very cool construction with three domes (each absorbs its own sound) with a very spacious, open kitchen-living room area perfect for gatherings. We were there to celebrate Friendsgiving ( college friends celebrating 16+ years of this get together and 20 years of friendship). Now there are a lot of kids in the mix. We stayed in November. House would be even better in the summer when the pool would be more appealing, but we had a great time enjoying the amazing view and using the sun porch for kid entertainment. The kitchen has most things needed to prepare a large meal, though there were a few things like a large serving platter, baster, non-stick pans, etc. it did not have. Tons of silverware though! Enough for 25 ppl. Glassware was lacking… The beds were pretty comfy! Most vacation rentals have horrible beds. All of us agreed the beds were the best we’d experienced at a VRBO. The bathtub in the Master bathroom did have a weird rust-splattered drip situation… but we didn’t need the tub for anything, so I wasn’t too worried about it. The shower was awesome! Kids toys (as advertised) were few - especially for smaller children. There were a lot of 1,000-piece puzzles and card games. Not much for those 2-10. That said, plenty of room to run outside and use the swings and the cool swing on the sun porch. The host on-site was very nice and patient. She was cool about all of the little kids running around. Wifi is needed for service.

Summary: We had 12 ladies for a yearly retreat. The house was perfect. It has enough beds to sleep us all comfortably, a lovely backyard with gorgeous views and a pool and hot tub to hang out to visit and catch up with all of us scattered around the US. Many went into the cute little town of Nevada City for boutique shopping. The perfect retreat.

Summary: I love the style and location of this house. I have stayed here once previously in 2019 so I have another experience to compare this one to. For the most part, the 4 of us enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and ready for us in time to accommodate the early check in we had been granted and we appreciated that. The onsite manager was polite, helpful and unobtrusive. Everything we used worked in the house. On the other side of things, the previously beautiful lawns are almost nonexistent as pictured. The outdoor couch and chairs are worn and breaking down and the formerly nice round canopy chair by the pool is broken down; the canopy does not stay up. The chairs around the fire pit are good for laying back and stargazing but completely impossible to sit up in. On the list of amenities, are bath soap and shampoo which were nonexistent. The only things in the showers were personal products, presumably belonging to the owners, and tiny used bits of soap bars; none of which we were inclined to use. The kitchen is in need of more wine glasses. I love the Round House and with just a little TLC it could be more comfortable and as advertised. I’m not expecting green lawns again, the price of water being what it is, but the other issues are definitely fixable.

Summary: The photos are no longer accurate and need updating. The property's furniture is quite "lived in" and the outside of the property is not as groomed as the photos indicate (back lawn needed a mowing and the plants could use more love). A tear in a seat cushion, socks on chair legs(?), the property wasn't ready for our move-in - dishes in sink (from on-site manager) and personal effects in a couple of other locations in the house. The tub in master has stains so it does not look like the photos and is not inviting to use. The A/C did not work on arrival and the resident manager nor the host were immediately available to fix. I came up with idea to fix & it worked, thankfully, as the weekend was a hot one! The spa was nice and we really enjoyed it at night. The pool was also nice but not as warm as expected. The "yoga room" not very inviting and the beverage/beer taps not clean either (no intention of using it but would never). The upstairs round room was hot and the window A/C could not cool it below 77 degrees. There were also spider webs up there. There were only 5 of us so it was not needed but... Overall, it is a beautiful location, great kitch, w/ a great view but owners need to spend money to justify the nightly price of the listing. We were offered a token refund for issues at check in (A/C, personal effects left about and dishes in kitchen sink). To their credit, they offered without me asking b/c we cleaned well. Res mgr, when there kept to herself.

Summary: What an incredible home! The views from the pool area are just perfect! My friends and I had a beautiful stay. House is a quick drive to town but you feel secluded and in nature when you are staying in the home. The house is unique with plenty of space for twelve people. Highly recommend!
