Positive: Very authentic ryokan with friendly staff and good food. Located 15 mins on foot from Hakone-Yumoto station and about 8mins from Tonosawa station. Hot and authentic onsen.

Negative: Although we had been made aware of the shared bathroom situation, we ultimately found it more challenging than expected. There were few toilets available and at 6 feet tall I had to sit sideways on the toilet. Also, the mattresses were quite thin and although fresh sheets were put over them the mattresses themselves seems old and worn. We appreciate the building is old and that is a part of its charm but a few repairs / tidy ups would help merit the price.
