What Our Guests say 500 + Reviews

Summary: The towels and bedding are new yet the rooms are tired. The new owners say they are renovating. They painted the building and room doors are a new color. However they just glopped new paint over old and you can see the prior removed room number plate. Also the door bottoms look rotted and they just installed a metal plate at the bottom. The plan is a boutique accommodation. Well they have a long way to go. The area around the lodge is sketchy.

Summary: Under new management as of June 2025, the Gainesville Lodge seems to be positioning itself as “boutique accommodations,” according to a news article. The reality is very different. I’ve stayed here for years due to its convenient distance to the University of Florida, as it was always a no-frills place to rest. The new owners have made cosmetic changes like painting the building, new towels, new bedding and adding combination door locks, but there have been no real upgrades. The room furnishings remain the same the bathrooms remain dated and need renovation. Basic amenities are gone—no microwave. There was never coffee service in the room nor breakfast offered and the pool was filled in years ago. Although our room was designated non-smoking, it smelled strongly of smoke, which made our stay uncomfortable. Most concerning is the pricing: I requested a room for a football weekend and was quoted $1,300 for one night. The location is good, but the value simply isn’t there. The lodge is tolerable due to convenience, but under current management, it’s overpriced.

Summary: Due to rennovations, the appeal in the room isnt the best but could see the progress with the fresh painting and slight changes in the room. Good for the money.

Summary: The staff was very polite. I only saw a couple bugs but the shower faucet needs to be replaced. It shoots out everywhere and then leaks into the room a tad. The bathroom door is also messed up because of that and is hard to shut.

Summary: The only two things I liked about the room was price and the mattress. The mattress slept very well. On the other hand, the frame in which the mattress lay made a lot of noise. There aren’t any unique features about the room. Everything is outdated including the motel itself. The furniture is dirty and the AC unit is very noisy and keeps you up all night pretty much. To access the controls to the AC you will have to stand on a chair in order to reach them. That’s dangerous. Because of their rules, you can’t bring any of your personal appliances for example, an air fryer to use. That’s disappointing.
