Very nice view of small valley and vines. Calm, and complete rest guaranteed. Property crossed by the “Pierre Loti” trail, famous writer of the family of the owner and who stayed there. Many prestigious vineyards in the vicinity (Saint Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes, Entre Deux Mers, Bordeaux Sainte Foy, Côte de Castillon…). Large selection of wine and regional product tasting farms/wineries in the vicinity. Close from several regional markets (Sainte Foy, and Castillon la Bataille) among the nicest of France. Fast access to the regional capitals of Bordeaux and Bergerac, the latter giving access to prehistoric Périgord and its sites. Many possible activities on the spot (excursion/walks, bicycles, canoe/kayak, tennis, bathing, sail & power plane & ULM flying at local aerodrome - Sainte Foy la Grande) and fully equipped Bergerac airport..

Summary: Fantastic property, like a home from home, it is quirky, authentic and a very traditional home. Amazing amount of space, inside and out. Stunning views and widlife abounds. We had two weeks using Pignon as a base to visit the region and attend a family wedding.

Summary: A wonderfully cool house with many rooms and space. enclosed garden is nice for a dog. The balcony is huge. A wonderful place to have breakfast in the morning and drink wine in the evening. Also closed, so ideal for our dog (or small children). Excellent contact with the landlord! Supermarkets within 15 minutes. Need a car. We'll be back for sure.

Summary: The house is in a really idyllic location, the chateau opposite is very pretty, and there are fabulous views from the balcony (which is very spacious) Unfortunately, we had a few problems with our stay. Namely the cleanliness of the property (the kitchen in particular, which had dirty wipes left on the counters) and overall the house was very dusty with a lot of cobwebs and clutter. Check in was after 4pm on the day of arrival, which is okay. However the check out was supposed to be 10am, but this was disrupted as we were informed the cleaner would arrive at 8:30am on our last day. This means there were two days which were comprised by timings, and given that the property was not clean when we arrived, an 8 hour allowance for cleaning time does not seem reasonable. We were disappointed to find that many of the wardrobes in the rooms were full of clothes and therefore unusable for our stay. Coat hangers were left out to instead use the hooks on the doors for storing clothes. Also not mentioned in the listing is the fact that some rooms were locked off, which means that you don't have access to the full house. This is fine, however the house only mentions 5 bedrooms, and the fact it is only partial use should be mentioned in the description of the property. We have used house-swap and exchange websites before, and this house felt more like a free exchange than a property that charges rent. We felt that we were living in somebody's house, and for the price that we paid, this is not appropriate or compatible with the price range. Overall the facilities weren't sufficient for us (a group of 7), let alone a group of 10. There were not enough mugs / glasses / heat mats etc. We also thought the layout of the house could be more accommodating for family dynamics, most of the sofas and chairs were covered in dust sheets. Although they do provide a TV, there are no sofas or living area on which to watch it in the place where the TV is stationed. However, the pool is great, as well as the piano, which several of our family members enjoyed playing. We also really appreciated the hospitality on arrival, as the owner's brother came to welcome us with some bottles of wine and encouraged us to visit their vineyard, which we visited and was lovely as described. Overall, the property has potential as it's in a lovely location, however the facilities need renovating and modernising to align with the price range.
