Positive: A stunning property! unbelievable value for money. Beautiful grounds, I wish I had more chance to explore them.

Negative: The coffee tray in the bedroom, the lead was too short to reach the socket. I had to put the tray on the floor to boil the kettle.

Positive: Beautiful decor throughout, to a very high standard. Fabulous grounds, immaculately maintained. The property was in a good location with amazing views of the Bristol Channel. Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Very comfortable bed with lovely quality bedding. Tea/coffee facilities and complimentary toiletries. Honesty bar

Negative: Although our bedroom was furnished to a high standard, unfortunately the shower wet room smelt of dirty drains throughout our stay. This was mentioned to staff on days 1 and 2 but was not rectified. The smell was overwhelming at times and seeped into the bedroom itself. There was no option for a cooked breakfast which would have been appreciated as it was advertised as a luxury B&B. Although we stayed in the main property, the car park was some way away at the back of the house and having unpacked we were asked by reception to park there on arrival. The following morning it was raining heavily and the walk to the car park was far enough to get soaked. The owner did agree to us parking at the front of the property later the following day.

Positive: The staff were lovely. The situation of the Manor house was beautiful, along with the grounds and gardens. The Antoinette room, in which we stayed was very nicely decorated.

Negative: I would have liked to have been able to have a cooked breakfast ( a continental breakfast is available) and for an evening meal to be available in the manor.

Positive: Loved the beautiful house and grounds as well as the lovely Versailles bedroom. The place is a lovely low key location and just a little bit quirky as well. The grounds and gardens are lovely with white peacocks, guinea fowl and black swans present. The lovely alpacas are a joy as well. The walled garden with it's Japanese theme garden and palm gardens are a total oasis. The "honesty" bar was nice touch and we used that and had a "sundowner" looking at the view across to North Devon. Wonderful. Close to a great pub - The Blue Anchor at Aberthawe is a bonus. The continental breakfast pre-ordered the night before was very good quality and there was plenty of choice.

Negative: Very little that we can say here as we really enjoyed our stay. We had a couple of communication issues before actually arriving at the Gileston Manor which was a bit worrying before the start of the stay but once we arrrived we could not fault the service and friendliness of the staff to us and all were very helpful during our stay.

Summary: Fabulous location for a nice weekend get away in the Vale of Glamorgan.
