Looking to unplug but still want modern amenities? Historic Buzzard Roost is your place, enjoy this historic 1830’s cabin built of virgin timber. Relax on the porch of this farmstead where generations of “old buzzards” have rested after long days of working the farm. Secluded in a wildlife refuge, it’s only minutes from modern stores and restaurants and about 9.8 miles north of Bryant Denny Stadium.
This property is a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath house that can sleep up to 6 people. Inside you will find new kitchen appliances; new mattresses, bedding and linens; smart TVs; and updated bathrooms. The house is also stocked with board games for everyone's entertainment!
Rooms & Bathroom:
Master Bedroom: King with en-suite full bathroom with walk-in shower.
Second Bedroom: Twin over Twin Bunkbed with a Twin floor mattress under the bunk bed.
Common area/living room: Twin Day bed with access to the hallway shared half bath.
Outdoor porch: Full outdoor rustic shower.
If you cannot get enough of the outdoors, get back to nature in the new and peaceful outdoor shower! The wooden deck boasts plenty of seating and lounge chairs as well as a cozy screened in porch to relax and enjoy the surrounding forest and lake vibes. Outside there is a wood-burning fire pit where the whole family can unwind and roast s'mores, along with a propane grill. There is a dock down by the lake with a kayak too!

Summary: This property was tucked away on a wildlife preserve. Very quiet area with a lot of wildlife for observation. The house itself was very old (historic) but well kept. It had all the things you need to enjoy your stay without sacrifice. The property had everything you needed there already, I mean everything! We could have just pack clothing and traveled a lot lighter. A short walk to the pier offered fishing, swimming and kayaking. The surrounding area had everything needed. Shopping, dining and grocery stores were all within a twenty minute drive. With a slightly longer drive you could enjoy a number of beautiful lakes along with hiking trails. We had not one issue accommodating the dog in our everyday activities. We happened to arrive at the property just after a pretty devastating storm passed through. The host and owner (who lives nearby) were extremely accommodating in our every need during our stay. They truly went above and beyond any other property we have visited.

Summary: Petite, very rustic cabin on lake. All the amenities you would need for a nice stay with touches of U of A charm in the woods. Liked the dock, fully stocked kitchen, soft towels and responsive management team.

Summary: We loved the really old cabin. It was decorated nicely, had all the amenities we needed, and was located in a secluded area along the water. We brought our dog and 3 children, and had an amazing time playing board games, watching movies, making s’mores around the campfire, and hanging out down on the dock fishing and kayaking. We even rented a boat for the day and had access to the property from the water. We would definitely stay again!!
