This two bedroomed cottage C.1880 is located on a stunning site 3 min drive from the car ferry. Stroll to the cafe, art gallery, pub, dairy, post office, RSA or bowls club. Take in the heritage walk around the village or just unwind with far reaching views in front of you.
Refurbished in recent years this is a very tidy cottage. Whilst it's a good place to rest if passing through it also makes an excellent base to discover Northland's history, beaches and walks. An excellent stopover on Northland's Twin Coast Cycle Trail, Pou Herenga Tai.
Previously known as ‘Beach Road Cottage’ the cottage has been renamed ‘Orowaru’ to better reflect the surrounding area and acknowledge Māori heritage. Orowaru means ‘sound of rippling water’. You will hear the cottage keep its namesake as you lie in bed listening to the gentle waves of the Harbour ripple by outside.

Summary: Quiet stay in old but quaint cottage. Enjoyed the hospitality of local shop/bar/cafe staff. So helpful and proud of what NZ has to offer. But, one never leaves enough time to fully enjoy the area!! Our loss.

Summary: Stayed over for 2 nights here, while attending a large family and community event re my brother who died in April. We were very comfortable here, and the cottage is very attractive, obviously historic. It was super-well equipped with everything you'd need. Easy access from the road, close to the Kohukohu village, and a clear view across the harbour in front. Thankyou for having us, we'd come again if the need or opportunity arose.

Summary: Lovely, peaceful little cottage with everything you need. Great view of the Hokianga river. Fantastic new driveway, beautifully kept gardens. Have stayed here before and would definitely stay here again.

Summary: Peaceful stay in a beautiful cottage. Kohukohu is historic, quiet and totally charming. The cottage is so comfortable and spotless, everything is provided. The view over the harbour is delightful. Truly recommend for a relaxing getaway.
