Summary: The day we arrived there had been storms that took out the power. Mary notified me and offered a full refund. We decided to stick it out and the power was restored the next day. We loved the yesteryear feel and vibe of the house. The WiFi was never restored but we enjoyed listening to 33’s on the record player. Mary gave us a partial refund even though we didn’t request it

Summary: Myself (25), my brother (22), and our cousin (20), stayed here for our first Mothman Festival adventure! As we were packing up on our last day, we were already talking about coming back next year. If you're like us and you're booking for the "creepiness"...do it! And make sure you show up late at night! This house definitely delivers on that! Lol. Honestly, though, it is so beautiful both during the day AND at night with the lights on. Every detail, from the antique furniture to the imposing stone fireplace to the French doors in the kitchen to the clawfoot tub and retro fridge, made this a wonderfully unique stay. A mother deer and fawn came to eat breakfast and sometimes dinner every day right next to the house. The woods were so peaceful and we definitely recommend the nature trail just down the road for a lovely hike! It was perfectly secluded and we never even thought about turning on the TV, opting instead to listen to the old records, but the Wifi was reliable and the cell service was good. The beds were super comfy, but I will note that the twin bed upstairs is a SMALL twin--it worked fine for me, at 5'2", but my brother, who is a few inches taller, didn't fit well in it. He and our cousin shared the full bed and they both said it slept very well! All in all, it was a wonderful stay, honestly even better than we could've hoped--a little bit creepy and a whole LOT of cozy beauty! The host was quick to reply and very helpful, too. Highly recommend this place!!

Summary: All all in all a nice place to stay and a nice change of pace from chain hotels. Close to Capitol Street in Charleston and the airport. Loved the porch with the ceiling fan, the full kitchen, and washer and dryer. Only complaints were the lack of curtains, shades, or blinds in all the windows, especially the bathroom, and the gravel driveway that was very steep, and took little technique to get up with a regular rental car. We were forewarned in the check in about the driveway, but it was a little worse than I thought.

Come with a sense of imagination, and you'll have a great time. WiFi supports working remotely. Across the street from a nature reserve. 20 minutes away from Kanawha State Forest.
