Positive: Very great location
Negative: I thought it was a house but it was an apartment and it was upstairs which I definitely wouldn't have chosen. The back door access abruptly quit working in the middle of our stay. There was only air conditioning in the 2 bedrooms. And a third roll of toilet paper would have been great since we booked 3 nights. And on our very last night the people that rented the downstairs apartment had a huge PARTY, the police even came. I also didn't expect a list of chores for checkout since I definitely paid a cleaning fee.
Summary: It was decent but not at all what I expected.

Positive: This is a charming second floor apartment in a great neighborhood. The house is old but it's well maintained and clean. The beds were super comfortable... more so than most hotels I've stayed in. Check-in was easy and the host was responsive. A huge bonus is that the apartment is less than a 5 minute walk from Crosstown Concourse, which is a huge, renovated warehouse that has a ton of restaurants, a bar, coffee shops, even a gym and church. Made things super convenient.
Summary: Charming and comfortable apartment in Memphis (with an added bonus of being by Crosstown Concourse)

Positive: We were two long-time friends in our early 60s seeking an affordable space that would give us separate beds and some private space. This home fit the bill perfectly. Not only did we have separate bedrooms (the beds were comfortable), we had a full kitchen (though small, it more than met our needs), plus a large dining area, a living room and a closed-in porch (perfect for sipping morning tea). Located in a cute, historic neighborhood that oozed charm, we were close to all the sites we wanted to see (Graceland, Beale Street, museums)! Even the airport was just 15 minutes away. The free off-street parking behind the home was convenient and we chose to access the home through the rear entrance (though both sets of stairs were steep). We felt completely safe during our stay there. The host was very responsive, both pre-trip and during our stay, to all inquiries, which made for easy communication. The WiFi was easy to access, and the included neighborhood suggestions for dining was helpful.
Negative: Even taking into account that this home is over 100 years old, we found some things that could be improved upon, and there are some things that you just have to accept (like the steep stairs at both entrances). BEDROOMS: The lighting was lacking (either no available outlet for the lamp, or no lamp at all), and we thought there should be some form of lighting near the bed. As it was, there was a single vintage overhead light. There was little surface area to put your suitcase (one of the bedrooms had a chest of drawers; the other had a small desk without drawers). BATHROOM: Lack of vanity space in the bathroom, and again, poor lighting. The single pedestal sink had an antique kitchen faucet, which I found interfered with accessing the sink if you were washing your face, or brushing your teeth. The owner's choice of a black-and-white motif was nice, until you got into the shower and closed the black shower curtain; the shower space went dark until our eyes adjusted. The included blow dryer was AWOL, but the host offered to bring one if we needed it (fortunately one of us brought theirs from home). LIVING ROOM: The couch cushions sunk so low, it felt like we were sitting on the floor. Table lamp with burnt-out bulb, or not working at all. KITCHEN: There were only two spoons (1 teaspoon & 1 tablespoon), so we were frequently washing our shared spoon. (Host responded that it happens a lot). Light switch for the laundry room was behind the refrigerator (it took a bit to find that). A few nit-picky things: smudges on surfaces that were clearly not wiped down; a light switch that was missing a cover; large wall clock that was missing hands; dining room chair with broken leg (notified host). We felt that some of these things could have been avoided if the property managers/owners paid more attention to details. We know the host has no control over the neighbor's barking dogs (or cackling chickens), but just wanted to let others know what they might...
Summary: Adorable place; we would definietly return!

Positive: Very stylish, a mix between renovated and original pieces, very charming. The apartment is spacious and has a cute balcony. Big tv. Nice quiet neighborhood, only 10mins drive to downtown. Responsive host.
Negative: Unfortunately not very clean. Stained bed sheets and stained torn towels. Pet hair on the carpets in the bedrooms. Some light switches don’t work.
Summary: Charming but not the cleanest
