Negative: Weirdly impersonal host situation with two corporate entities. Gave wrong info on WiFi network. Not a homey feel inside; clearly a year round rental not lived in. Fireplace knob broken upstairs so pilot worked but no way to turn on flames. I already did a review and was asked to do another. Annoying disconnect between Booking and Vacasa.

Positive: The property was very clean and in a convenient location to Freeland and Langley.
Negative: This was honestly the worst stay I’ve had at a vacation property. To start off, when we arrived it was dark with no porch light and the lock box was in an awkward spot. The lock box was also covered in spider webs and trying to open it in total darkness was not fun. Once we got in the house was extremely cold. The thermostat was set at 60° and it took several hours for the house to warm up to a comfortable temperature. Everyone had to bundle up in extra clothes to go to bed that night. Both the gas fireplace and tv were not working that first evening (the batteries in the tv remote were dead). I called the 1-800 number for the property the following morning. They stated that they would send someone out that day to replace the batteries in the remote but that the fireplace only works in the winter. This is super frustrating because the house was freezing and the Booking.com property description lists the gas fireplace in the first sentence calling it the home’s special feature and no where in the Booking.com description does it say it’s only available in winter. The agent said that the description on the Vacasa site says it’s only available in the winter but I did not book it off of there. The water pressure in the shower was absolutely terrible as well. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a shower with such little water pressure in my life prior to that.
Summary: The property was clean and in a convenient location but there were some issues which made the stay disappointing.

Positive: Whidbey island and Freeland are spectacular. We could walk to grocery store, antique stores and restaurant. The house is very well furnished with lots of room. The house had everything we needed. The deck was delightful on sunny days.
Negative: The only thing I did not like was the shower. The tub felt slippery and the water just barely drizzled out.

Positive: Main floor of house had nice bedrooms and furnishings. Nice fire pit stove on deck. Refund for musty smell.
Negative: Couldn't figure out how to light fire pit first day, in spite of call to customer service. Had to buy lighter. Instructions would have been very helpful. Basement was so musty, it would have been intolerable for me to sleep in. No screens on doors or windows to securely air out. No dishwasher. House on busy road.
Summary: It worked out but wouldn't recommend or stay again. Disappointed.
