Positive: The service from the staff was generally very good. The food at all the restaurants we tried was of good quality.
Negative: The hotel buildings are quite spread out, they provide golf cart but you can use them only if you have a Japanese driving license. We could rent and drive a car in Okinawa but the hotel wouldn't allow us to drive a golf cart in it. To have a seat on their beach you have to pay a fee every time. The outside of our hotel room was in need of renovation, re-painting.

Positive: Great rooms with very comfy beds. The hot tub on the balcony was a real hit. The kids loved the pools and the snorkelling at the beach was superb and very family friends. Breakfast was great. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
Negative: There were not many food options on site and it required a short shuttle bus ride or car drive to nearby locations for better options. We had lunch in the restaurant on one day and the only bartender / waiter on duty was clearly overworked. More staff were required here.

Positive: I enjoyed staying at Shigira, the service was great, the room condition was perfect. All the staffs were so kind, especially the English staff(so sorry that I forgot the name) helped us book dinners for the whole stay and upgrade our room to ocean view. I would definitely choose Shigira for my next stay. Thanks a lot!

Positive: The breakfasts, both the Japanese and the western, were excellent, especially the champagne! We also loved the Club Lounge.
Negative: We utilised our rental car a lot during our stay to see other parts of Miyakojima. It would have been good if there were other transportation options.

Positive: The room is so nice that it's out of my expectation. Very big, pleasant, clean and with good seaview. Had champaign, BBQ scallops and tiger prawns for breakfast. Overall, money was well spent and I should have booked one more night.

Positive: 1) Room was comfortable and everything was provided. 2) Really enjoyed the golf cart that you can use to drive around (included in room). 3) The Club Lounge was also included in our room so we really enjoyed it too. 4) The bathtub was super comfortable and enjoyable (can fit 2 people too!) 5) The valet people are nice and friendly.
Negative: 1) The pool (in the room and the hotel's) are too cold! They couldn't be bothered to turn on the pool heater. It was still cold at that time. We asked them to turn on the pool heater in our room. It took one whole day for the pool to warm up, so we wasted one day of our stay not being able to swim in the room. 2) Most staff couldn't speak decent English despite being a 5-star hotel. 3) Location: restaurants nearby are all expensive hotel restaurants. If you want a normal-priced meal, you'd have to drive out to the city, at least 15 minutes drive. 4) Many bugs in the room pool, but I guess there's not much they can do about that. 5) We ate at the hotel's restaurant (it was fine dining). It became an uncomfortable situation because they listed different prices in their Japanese and English menu. The prices they advertised at the hotel lobby was also wrong. Please check and update your menu prices.
Summary: It was in general a nice stay, but so many things can be improved.

Positive: This place is absolutely gorgeous - 2nd time staying here. The pools are amazing, the grounds pristine, the beach beautiful, and an expansive choice of restaurants. We loved taking the golf cart around the grounds at night and going "creature hunting" (i.e. looking out for ghost crabs, toads, and large hermit crabs)...this was especially loved by our 8-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. We also loved going to the duck pond and feeding the ducks (to the Shigira staff, there is an older black duck who has a limp - please watch out for him) and looking at the other birds living in the pond (there was a nest of babies). Overall, if you are looking for beauty and luxury in Miyakojima, this is the place.
Negative: The only compliant is the breakfast - it is expansive and delicious but the exact same every day (we stayed for 7 days, so we got a bit bored with it. They should consider offering pancakes or French toast, more omelet add-in choices, and perhaps rotating offerings...believe all would appreciate this.
