Summary: This place was so dirty that spiders were making webs inside the house. When I checked in the property was nasty, strong odor coming from the kitchen. Beautiful property; owner never contacted me back and still charged me for a cleaning fee. I’m very disappointed in the way I was treated.

Summary: Such a fresh, clean house! Perfectly out of the way of normal hussle and bustle but close enough to our kiddos at the CIA. Quite, except for the trains, but we LOVED it. Will come again!!!

Summary: If you enjoy watching trains as we do, this is a great place. We enjoyed our stay very much because of the proximity to the train tracks. The view at night of the Mid-Hudson bridge is beautiful. Why my review is mixed is because the house was not very clean upon our arrival and unfortunately, after our first night there, there were mouse droppings all around the kitchen and adjoining den. We also found them in the kitchen drawers and under the sink. We emailed those in charge immediately ( they list an email and phone number, but we preferred to email) and got no response throughout our entire stay. We understand that these things can happen, especially in a wooded area but the lack of response was not encouraging. We decided to put up with it but left no food of any kind out (even in containers) and kept our bags tightly shut. I would not have included this issue in my review if we had gotten any kind of response. The house is quite nice in-spite of that but we would recommend that the owners install towel bars or hooks in both bathrooms, as there is nothing to hang anything on, maybe put a bureau in the main bedroom, or something to put your luggage on so it’s not on the floor, fix the broken light on the outside stairs and replace the light next to the front door which is missing, which leaves you slightly in the dark using those stairs at night. There is an alarm system but no instructions on how to use it. We really enjoyed the hiking trails that are very close to the house and also the walk across the Hudson is lots of fun. So, if the issues mentioned get resolved it’s really a unique and fun place to stay, especially for train spotting and hiking.

Summary: The property was in a nice location next to the Hudson River, with a nice view, and was clean and well appointed with new appliances, nice furniture, big TV. It would have been nice if the listing had disclosed the railroad ran adjacent to the property. Also, it appeared that the street /lot at the base of the driveway is a gathering spot on the weekend nights for various local partiers, which given the remoteness of the house, left our group feeling uneasy for the security of the premises. It was a lovely spot, too bad about the trains and the local revelers.

Summary: The interior of this home has been recently renovated and is quite nice -- tasteful and with good quality furnishings and appliances. It overlooks the Hudson River and the view is fantastic, especially in the evening with a nearby bridge lit up. It does not have central air but there are high end fans as well as some window A/C units. We would not have used central air if it was available but this could be a different story in July or August. There is one major downside to the home and that is the fact that there is a very busy rail line close by and a fair bit of train traffic. At times the noise is quite extreme. There is not much activity during the night and when there was we were able to fall back to sleep so, in the end, we slept well.

Summary: The house itself was recently renovated with an open floor plan between kitchen, dining area, and large tv area on first floor, three bedrooms on second w full bath. We enjoyed the reading nook on the second floor. Furniture and beds were comfortable. Decor was pleasant and not cluttered or too fussy. However, a few small adjustments could be made, including curtains/shades in master bedroom, additional towel hooks or rods in the bathroom, and a dish rack in the kitchen. There was no air conditioning and some evenings were uncomfortably warm even with windows open and dyson fans on full power. Location was much closer than expected from listing to a very busy industrial train line, which was very loud, especially at night. If we could have closed the windows (with a/c) it might have been more tolerable. Views of the FDR Hudson River bridge were lovely.
