4 Bedroom Cottage in Georges Mills, Sunapee

Twins Rock Cottage was built in 1941 and we are the third owners. We purchased the house in 2019 and it has been recently winterized and modernized, has a new kitchen, new washer and dryer, all new bathrooms, new gas fireplace, a NEST heating system with five zones, wifi boosters and three flat screen TVs. All the linens are new, as are virtually all of the plates, glassware and kitchen accessories. In the warm summer months, each bedroom has an air conditioning unit. All that said, we have tried to keep the campy feeling of a New Hampshire lake house.
We looked at lake homes (for years) before deciding this was the one. We like that the cottage has both southern and western exposures, great sunsets, double the shore footage of most cottages, doesn’t have the wind that some homes experience in wider parts of the lake, is only 10 minutes away from the best supermarket in the area, has easy access to Route 89 for traveling to and from…we could go on.
The location is great. The house is perched on the lake and has a view from just about every room. It feels private, but is only 10 minutes away from Mount Sunapee for skiing and the town of New London - a quaint New England town with a great bookstore, amazing bakery, ice skating rink in the winter, summer theatre that puts on first-rate productions, year-round organic farm where you can stock up on produce and pick your own flowers, the best grocery store in the area and, of course, ice cream.
FIRST FLOOR
- Kitchen with butcher block island, coffee bar, bistro table and side buffet.
- Dining Room with a table that comfortably seats 7.
- Living Room with flatscreen TV, gas fireplace, huge window seat overlooking the lake, table for games and puzzles.
- 1/2 Bath with stacked washer/dryer.
- Kids' play/TV room with games and flatscreen TV.
- Ping Pong room (open during warm months).
- Bedroom 1: Queen Bed with water views and a small seating area.
- Bedroom 2: Twin Beds with water views.
- Full bathroom near bedrooms with tub/shower.
SECOND FLOOR
- Bedroom 3: (2) Queen Beds with water views.
- Bedroom 4: Master bedroom with king bed, flat screen TV and amazing lake views.
- Full bath with shower.
The cottage has two outside cameras. One at the front of the house that covers the driveway, and one at the back of the house that covers the dock area.

Summary: We were very pleased with this Rental. We thought the views from the home were stunning especially from the Living Room. The Listing actually exceeded our expectations. Some of the photos did not do justice to the home. All the Bedrooms were roomy with vaulted ceilings & ceiling fans. The lot is double wide & provides a lot of privacy from the road and neighbors. All we could see out the windows were the gorgeous lake views & lots of trees and greenery. The home was very quiet and relaxing. We had planned to bring out Boat to dock at the house. Due to not great weather we made the difficult decision to leave the boat at home this visit. It was the right decision. We were forced to relax which was quite easy in this beautiful home. We left the house only once during our stay to get some groceries. Other than that we stayed put. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we could have needed. Not the trip we had hoped for but it was much enjoyed because it was such a great setting. There was ample space to spread out in this house. The Owners made many great decisions updating & decorating this house. Great attention to detail! It was comfortable, warm & inviting. We would love to book again & hopefully get our boat in the water the next time. The dock would have worked great had the weather cooperated. Summary: Twin Rocks Cottage is absolutely perfect in every way. We had a wonderful multi-generational vacation with room for all. Every detail is thoroughly thought through. The location is secluded but still convenient, and the outside area, lake views, and dock space are magical! We rented a pontoon boat from Goodhue just down the road and the deep water dock was so nice to have. We look forward to returning to Twin Rocks!

Summary: This is an absolutely perfect lake house. Its charm has been retained while it has been renovated with modern conveniences and comfortable style. Liz has thought of literally EVERYthing guests might need, and the cottage is so well appointed. The location can't be beat...south/west facing means sun all day, and on a quieter corner of the lake makes it so peaceful. We had an amazing stay and are ready to book it again!

Summary: This cottage is a warm and welcoming home away from home. Cozy and well-appointed, we were delighted the home retained its historical New England cottage feel and provided plenty of space for the seven of us to spread out and relax. The kids (ages 8 & 10) had a ball spending warm days swimming in the lake. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked and the owners were incredibly communicative. We would love to spend more summers at this special place.

Summary: We rented this for a family weekend celebrating a college graduation. The house has several areas for folks to hang out and so you can spread out. There are two kitchen tables, a seperate den with TV, a huge living room with a window seat big enough for 8 people, sunroom with pool table and tons of outdoor space. Everything you could possible need is there. I've never seen a kitchen so well stocked! This is just a gorgeous home with incredible views on the lake. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about is there are only 2 showers and the bathrooms are small. There isn't much area to "get ready" if you're sharing the space with others. There aren't vanityies but only sinks which isn't a deal breaker but just something to keep in mind if you spend a lot of time with hair/makeup. Most folks are more laid back with their appearance when on vacation but we had two big events to attend and I wanted to look my best. The family had a great time and we literally needed nothing during our stay. Liz is very detailed and it shows with how well she has this home stocked. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to rent her home again. We made wonderful memories and I'm so thankful we found this on VRBO.

Summary: We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Liz's with our adult children and their spouses. Liz's place was well set up with everything we needed, and her clear, helpful information ahead of time made for an easy, worry-free visit. The lakeside setting was lovely: sparkling water, loons, a rowing club practicing in the distance... We swam, kayaked, explored the lake by boat - all great. And we just plain relaxed, reading and chatting indoors and out. Liz provided suggestions about area restaurants, but we found ourselves so enjoying the house and the lake, we never did dine out. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped and groceries are nearby, making it easy, so we grilled and enjoyed sunset dinners on the deck. Liz and her family clearly found - and made - a special spot. We feel fortunate to have been able to share it with our family.

Summary: Beautiful waterfront property! Loons, ducks, geese, hawks, song birds, the sound of water lapping the ice age boulders. Perfect temperatures. Even saw a rainbow during the sunset of our last day. Comfy beds. Wonderful design work made the surroundings in the house warm and inviting. Hope to return soon.

Summary: This cottage was very clean, had all the amenities and booking and access were very easy. No detail was overlooked and the location was perfect. It has privacy from the neighbors, is right on the water and has an amazing view. Highly recommend this spot to spend time with family or just have a relaxing getaway.

Summary: This was one of the most impressive properties we ever stayed at. The setting is just beautiful. The inside of the house is equally stunning. Lots of windows to look upon a picture-perfect lake. The trees were in fall colors, which just added to the experience. A lovely gas fireplace added to the ambience. The kitchen was well stocked, which allowed us to create great meals and eat on the outside deck. This is a place we would definitely come back again.
