Summary: This house is georgeous but fails to be 5 stars as the windows do not open properly and insect screens need to be fitted to the inside FULLY so we can really get air in the Taupe room but we nred protection fRom mosquitos a we got stung several times. It needs at least a ceiling fan too as the room gets very hot and in the summer ir Indian summer like we just had in September 2016, we could only get two small openings open and at night it spoilt our sleep as we were sweating so much in bed. The host Pamela is very willing and helpful so you get plenty of assistance. The staff were very helpful too. We were very dissapointed that there was not even a small safe in the room - this was a big error by the owners as we were travelling a long time and needed to put many documents away but in our own room safe. Not good. Public transport to get to Amsterdam is brilliant well done the Dutch - you really excel at this. In the centre of the village is a double electric charging point for electric cars - again excellent! Used my "NEW IN MOTION" charge card there. Nearby is the 3 music notes bar. Excellent place with great atmosphere and really nice food and the owner and staff and even the customers are so friendly. Talking if which, even 9n the buses, people in this lovely part on Holland are so friendly and helpful and nearly all speak English. A few minor points that the owners must improve and get a better rating for there establishment but you must visit this fantastic area!

Summary: I really enjoyed my stay at Inn on the Lake. We arrived early in the morning and Pamela gave us a very warm reception, stored our luggage for us and set us up with bus tickets and an itinerary to explore the nearby towns of Volendam and Edam - this helped us with our jetlag (as we had come from Australia and Singapore) and gave us a beautiful introduction to Broeke, rather than get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam city. The breakfasts were wonderful - I highly recommend the Pamela egg :) and the view of Napoleon's tea house from the breakfast room was gorgeous. After breakfast, take a walk around the town of Broeke - the town is so pretty, the houses look like dollhouses and the lake so soothing. We were lucky to be in Amsterdam for King Day so we got to celebrate with the locals - they invited us to sing the Anthem in the church next door and we got to watch the children play musical instruments and sell/recycle toys, clothes and books they have outgrown. And the whole of Amsterdam seemed to be dressed in orange!
