Blair and Margaret’s charming bed & breakfast is set in a peaceful, cozy location, conveniently close to Bowmore, making it an ideal base for exploring the island. Their directions to the property were clear, and it’s just as easy to find by simply entering the name into Google Maps. The house is immaculate, tastefully decorated, and exceptionally well maintained. Every detail is thoughtfully considered to ensure comfort, and the tranquil surroundings guarantee a restful night’s sleep. What truly sets Kilmeny apart is the warmth and hospitality of its hosts. Margaret welcomed us with genuine kindness and had arranged homemade cake and a dram of whisky for our arrival—a thoughtful gesture that made us feel instantly at home. Breakfast each morning was a delight: from the full Scottish breakfast and overnight oats prepared by Margaret, to Blair’s freshly brewed coffee and crisp toast. Margaret even remembered a passing mention of clotted cream and prepared it specially to accompany the scones—a gesture that spoke volumes about their care for guests. When I requested a firmer pillow, it was provided without hesitation. Every interaction reflected sincere warmth and attentiveness. The hosts struck the perfect balance—thoughtful, while never intrusive. Their hospitality made our stay not just comfortable, but truly memorable. I would wholeheartedly recommend Kilmeny, not only for its beautiful property and ideal location, but above all for the exceptional service. Thank you, Blair and Margaret, for making our stay so special. Your B&B will undoubtedly be my first choice when I return to Islay.

Positive: Everything is perfect, everything clean, Mrs Margaret is a beautiful person. Her husband and other people are very kind and wonderful. Bed comfortable. Bathroom big, clean and fulfilled with any comfort. Welcome tea, Biscuits, Whisky. The breakfast is something special. Mrs Margaret pay very attention about everything and everyone! We found our house, not only a Bnb. We will return here very very soon! Thank you for all!

Positive: The breakfast was wonderful, with a sideboard of everything you could hope for, fresh baked items, and a made-to-order menu as well. All eggs poached to perfection. Hot coffee and tea in pots with cozies. A beautiful tables and settings. Our room was spotless and so well-appointed and comfortable. Even a little decanter of Laphroig for a welcome drink! The latest green heating and cooling. Outdoor seating areas with spectacular views. And a favorite thing you can't get in Port Ellen: A perfectly dark night sky. We went in August 2024, and saw the milky way, meteors and northern lights, all right out in the car park.
Summary: We had a wonderful time, and can't wait to get back. Seriously, the suite room is honeymoon-worthy.
