"La Maison Noble de Nanteuil" at Nanteuil Auriac de Bourzac has been sitting quietly opposite the village church for the last 500 years ...
Dating from 1583 , our property offers a cosy and peaceful 10 acre property in a sleepy village in "Pรฉrigord Vert". It is 20 mn from Aubeterre sur Dronne, 30 mn from Brantome or Angouleme, and 45 mn from Pรฉrigueux .
The property consists of the original 16th-18th century village forge and farmhouse, and is used most of the year by our large and energetic family as weekend and holiday getaway, with its pigeon tower and outbuilding swimming pool, large garden and parking.
We offer authentique, comfortable and spacious fully renovated accommodations with central heating, open log fire and wood inserts, but also all the mod cons you would expect to take it down a notch.
PLEASE be aware that this charming house is very old, and its soundproofing is not of the highest standard...
Well behaved pets are welcome.
Note: We are not in residence when the property is let so you will enjoy complete privacy during your stay.

The House
Extensive Period 15th _17th century property fully renovated, lots of character, 300m2 of accommodation.
Old beams, old wide floorboards (not efficient soundproofing-wise), old terracotta floors, tasteful decoration using traditional finishings.
Ground level kitchen, fully equiped to a high standard to cater for up to groups of 16 people, with two fridge/freezers, dishwasher, dual induction hobs, dual ovens and microwave. Laundry facilites include washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing equipment.
Dining Room : extensive inside dining facilites for up to 14 adults at table, wood log insert.
Lounge : spacious with an open fireplace, comfortable furniture, Bluray /DVD player and iPod /USB music system .
7 spacious bedrooms : 5 of the bedrooms have large double beds (160 and 180cm); 2 bedrooms may be set up for triple accommodation according to your needs. There are also 3 cots (which complies with British Safety Standards).
3 bathrooms, on each floor at each end of house + one separate WC on the first floor. There are hairdryers in each of the bathrooms
iPod Dock /USB sound bar and an External 27inch PC screen to enable connection to your PC via HDMI + WiFi connection... NO TV !
West facing sun-drenched terrace area with dining area, sun screening with adjacent Barbecue /Plancha under the pigeon loft.
Terrace looks on to adjacent garden and towards the pool area
Smoking in all interior areas of the property is forbidden.
The Swimming Pool :
Pool 12m x 5m around which there is a large sun terrace . The pool is equipped with sun loungers and sunscreens. For toddlers there is a 30cm paddling area.
Please note that the pool has been fenced to meet with statutory requirements. Pool towels are not provided.
Other facilities
Parking outside the property, or private parking for up to 3 cars in separated courtyard .

Summary: We were a group of 6 adults and 3 children and this house was perfect for all ages. The large garden was beautiful and the pool was lovely. The shallow ledge was particularly useful for my 2 year old to have a little paddle. The trampoline was also a big hit. All the rooms were lovely and big and the open barn outside was a perfect spot to sit under for evening meals. The house is in a quiet little village but small villages and towns within a short distance. We had a great morning kayaking in Riberac and the lovely town of Aubetter

Summary: A genuine rustic home, a bit of a distance from shops but we soon embraced that! Very comfortable beds and LOADS of crockery and cutlery for our large group. The children loved the freedom of the acres of space around the property. On the last night we discovered they had taken their bath towels to the top field and all six of them were laid out in a row looking at the stars.

Summary: This is a large and rambling property with lovely gardens and very well suited to a large party. The highlight was all the different outside spaces for eating, lounging and sitting.; we loved all the different social areas outside. A highlight is the barn area with its two planchas which we used everyday. The pool is also excellent and of a good size, perhaps more loungers would have been good but there wasnโ€™t a lot of space for more. We were a party of 11 aged 17 - 81 and were well accommodated in the bedrooms and bathrooms. That said I donโ€™t think that the house is ideal for older people with a lot of uneven flooring and steps with only one bedroom really being ideal for an older person. The description identified the fact that it is an old and quirky house and this is true. There can be no secrets in this house as conversations in rooms can all be heard in the rooms below. The wiring was decidedly dodgy with cables running around the floors between rooms but seemed safe enough. It being an old property some of the door handles were difficult to operate, some doors didnโ€™t shut fully, and I think that these could be rectified - there were a few places where some tlc on the house would have been useful. Another gripe would be the cleanliness when we arrived, there was a lot of dog or cat hair in some of the bedrooms and some areas hadnโ€™t been dusted. That said we had a lovely week and I would overall definitely recommend the house, though not for older people or young children. The house is well equipped for large parties, masses of crockery and two really good sized fridges. Anton and Priscilla were most accommodating and friendly hosts especially as we were very late arriving due to flight delays. Be mindful of the age of the property but for a large party it is a very good choice.

Summary: We recommend highly this beautiful house. It is well-endowed, the rooms are nice and the outdoor area is huge with lots of space for children to play and a newly built pool. The owners were very friendly and the communication was fast and easy.

Summary: We spent a delightful and very restful week here as a family of 5. The children loved spending the day in the pool (which is brilliant for toddlers due to the shelf - approx 30cm deep). There was some perfect shady spots in the garden where we spent time eating and playing. The house is as described and full of character and Anton and Priscilla were great hosts. Thank you!
