Positive: We loved staying right in the property, just a few minutesโ€™ walk through the gorgeous gardens to access the castle. Our room had amazing views from the balcony out over Dunedin Harbour. It was well appointed and comfortable. The property is on the exceptionally scenic Otago Peninsula and quite close to the Royal Albatross Centre and the beach where the blue penguins nest, which is also a bonus.
Negative: Very little. Iโ€™d have liked a mirror somewhere that I could use to put on make-up; the mirror over the basin was a bit too far away. Iโ€™d also have liked the furniture set out so we could have a side table between the chairs for a glass of wine. Maybe replace the second bed in the room with a seating area.

Negative: Alot of people in NZ don't know that you can stay at Larnach Castle and they provide breakfast and dinner. Needs more publicity in NZ.

Positive: It's a castle... What's not to like?? The room was lovely, views AMAZING, bed was comfortable, breakfast was fantastic
Negative: Dinner. Was supposed to be like a degustation menu, however was very disappointing. Lamb cutlets were slightly seared but raw (not rare). Vegetables not cooked enough - not 'a little bit of crunch', but actually not able to be cut or stabbed with a fork. Raw Brussels sprouts are very unpleasant. And a pudding style cake for dessert was disappointing. Spent $95 per head and went to bed hungry since a fair amount of the food was awful or inedible
