3 Bedroom Cottage in Killadoon, Louisburgh

Clare View Cottage is situated on a hill overlooking the coastline, in 1/2 an acre of land. The area is shown on maps as Killeen and/or Killadoon and the nearest town is Louisburgh, which is about five miles to the north east. Louisburgh has ‘blue flag’ beaches, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, where traditional music may be enjoyed. Pony riding, cycle hire and permits for river and lake fishing are available.
Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s holy mountain, can be seen from the house - there are paths to the summit and climbing it is a very popular way of passing a day for fit visitors!
The recently renovated kitchen features all new appliances, ample storage space and a full size refrigerator/freezer. Meals can be enjoyed at the large farm-style dining table. There is hard wood flooring throughout the living space with cozy rugs. The luxurious dark blue Italian leather three piece suite is positioned to enjoy the panoramic views of the coastline from the floor to ceiling picture window. Three large radiators provide plenty of heat, but the local stone fireplace, with cast iron stove and stone mantel, gives a comforting blaze on a cold or wet day.
The dining area easily seats six, with views of Clare Island through the patio doors. Pictures and lighting complete the scene, and 32'' LCD TV with satellite channels, DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, CD player/cassette/radio and books. The kitchen is well outfitted and has many work surfaces. Dishwasher, fridge, freezer, electric cooker with ceramic hob, double oven & grill, extractor fan, electric kettle and toaster.
There are three bedrooms, two twin bedded, one has built in wardrobe, the other has bookshelves. The master bedroom has a built in wardrobe, double bed with pocket sprung mattress, ensuite toilet, washbasin and shower. Every bedroom has a chest of drawers, bedside tables, mirrors, pictures, reading lights and a comfortable chair. House bathroom with toilet, washbasin, bath and separate electric shower cubicle. Hairdryer.
Airing cupboard, automatic washing machine, iron + board.
Wireless broadband connection.

Electricity & oil fired central heating included in rental (external boiler house so no oily smells!)
Enclosed large lawn area around the house with gate.
Ample parking on tarmac drive/patio area.

A further fourteen miles from Louisburgh, at the heart of Clew Bay, is Westport , a bustling town with Georgian layout designed by James Wyatt, with some fine buildings. Westport has interesting shops, numerous cafes, restaurants and bars catering for every taste (including the famous Matt Molloys) and a championship golf course, but still retains a West of Ireland charm. Westport House, with children’s zoo and other attractions, is open to the public.
There are a number of mountains in the area, the nearest is Mweelra, Connaught’s highest mountain, which is about four miles from the house. It rises from a particularly beautiful beach known as the Silver Strand. Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s holy mountain, can be seen from the house - there are paths to the summit and climbing it is a very popular way of passing a day for fit visitors!
Clare Island, home of the sixteenth century pirate queen Grace O’Malley, can also be clearly seen from the house. A visit by boat from Roonagh Point, about four miles away, is also very popular with visitors. There are also regular boat services to Inish Turk, which is a little further out than Clare and well worth a visit.
Delphi Lodge and Delphi Spa and Adventure Centre are about six miles inland, on the road to Leenane, location of the film ‘The Field’. The scenery alone on this drive makes it well worth a visit. There are regular boat trips from Leenane along Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only Fjord, whilst Delphi House is well known for fishing. The Adventure Centre offers numerous outdoor activities, and there is also a surf school which operates from a nearby beach - Horse riding and guided hill/mountain walking can also be arranged locally.
Closer to the house there are a number of excellent beaches, the nearest about a mile away, reached by quiet country lanes. Post office, church and bar/restaurant are all within a mile of the house, and for shopping Louisburgh is less than a quarter hour's drive.

Summary: We loved Clare View. Very well equipped in all aspects. Fantastic view of Clew Bay. Enjoyed using the woodstove. Excellent wifi and wide variety of TV stations. We stayed there for a week and used our rental car to visit the beaches, Louisberg, Westport, Killary Fjord, Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey, and Croagh Patrick. Excellent owner who always promptly returned our emails. Thanks for a great time.

Summary: A great cottage in a wonderful setting with spectacular views across the sea to Clare Island. One of the best equipped properties we have ever stayed in, spotlessly clean and cared for by Trisha the property manager. Peace and privacy without ever feeling isolated. Very impressed in every respect.

Summary: From the moment we saw the view out the front window we knew we were in someplace special. In County Mayo, beaches, mountains, farms and lambs brought great enjoyment, but the people we met made us feel at home. Clare View Cottage offers comfort and a well-equipped base to explore the area. From Achill Island to Lunaun and Silver Strand to Castlebar, we found rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and scenic walks. A place we would come back to stay on a future trip to Ireland.

Summary: We had a wonderful, relaxing and awe inspiring stay at Clare Cottage. The scenery out the big living room window, and all around the cottage was gorgeous. Very quiet and peaceful. We drove around quite a bit and may I say Silver Strand Beach and the drive to Ashleigh Falls is something to behold. Patricia greeted us when we arrived, then left us alone but only a phone call away if we needed anything. All in all, the best house we stayed at during our two weeks in Ireland. Catherine T.

Summary: Excellent value for Money, beautiful property we were blown away by all the little extra touches that Trisha had gone to for us. The house itself is stunning. We needed for nothing, the property had everything we needed. Trisha was an absolute pleasure to deal with. We will definitely return.

Summary: We so enjoyed our stay at Clare View cottage. Trisha was so welcoming and all communication with Harry and Trisha was faultless. It is a lovely, spotlessly clean home with everything you could possibly need in the house for a relaxing holiday. The views are amazing no matter which season the day chooses to reveal! We even enjoyed the rain as it battered the windows cos we were snug and warm inside watching the sea. Great base to explore, lovely walks and endless beautiful beaches. We did not want to leave. Thank you. We hope to return as soon as we can.
