Built in 1954 by Dr. and Mrs. R.L. Hillman, this spacious, quality home was completely remodeled/renovated between 2008-2010 by the current owners. The home features 5 bedrooms with private baths, hardwood floors, gorgeous floor to ceiling windows, beautiful moldings, a true gourmet kitchen, den with TV, large comfy living room with large box bay windows and large fireplace with gas logs, multiple outdoor seating areas including brick courtyard, brick and stone fire pit, and Koi Pond. Our property is 10 minutes from historic Abingdon (of Barter Theater fame), 20 minutes from Damascus (Trail Town USA, home of the famous Creeper Trail for biking and hiking), and a short drive to Mt. Rogers national recreation area. We are also only 20 minutes from Bristol, home of Bristol Motor Speedway and the new Hard Rock Casino gambling facility. Emory and Henry College is just across the street from our property.

Summary: My family and I love to bike the Virginia Creeper Trail and usually do a day trip, but since we all live in different areas we decided to make a weekend out of our trip this year! There were 8 of us in total so we needed a space large enough to accommodate. We came across the Emory house and it seemed like a perfect fit so we booked it! Alvin (Rocky) was such an amazing host to work with. Very personable and easy communication with great response times. The house was so quaint and full of charm! Very clean and lots of space for us to hangout and have fun together as a family. My sister and I loved “fighting” over who got to choose their room first, like we were kids again! Check in was easy as well as check out! Our only regret was not booking an extra night to have a day without plans so we could just hangout on the property. Will definitely be back!!

Summary: Our group did the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail. This house was the perfect location. It was only about a 20 minute or so drive to Damascus to rent our bikes and go on the trail. Everything was more than satisfactory. We enjoyed that each room had its own bathroom and plenty of room to play games as well. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Alvin!!

Summary: The house was everything we could have asked for and more. The location was ideal for the biking, hiking, and golf that we did. The information about the area. Restaurants etc was very helpful. We would definitely stay at this location again.

Summary: We loved staying at Rocky’s lovely classic home home on the fringe of Emory & Henry. The gorgeous kitchen and outdoor grill made family meal prep a dream. And we appreciated the coffee bar, sodas and ice. At day’s end we spent time on the beautiful porch before retreating to lovely comfy bedrooms— thoroughly pampered. Excellent choice for small family “reunion-type” getaways particularly for older adults.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay! Rocky (owner) is so gracious and accommodating. The property is exactly as pictured in listing. Every detail has been attended to and the experience is exceptional. We had a group of 7. The kitchen is a dream come true! It is fully stocked with everything you need in the way of pots, pans, etc. A lovely coffee n tea service were available. Plenty of room to spread out or gather together. Big covered porch n lots of open green spaces.
