“Birch Lane” is a fully self-contained, super comfortable piece of tranquillity in the heart of the Huon Valley in southern Tasmania. The apartment is self-catering with full English breakfast provided. Guests will need to shop for other provisions.
Your hosts, Peter and Michelle, travel a lot, and we know what we like. Comfort, cleanliness, convenience, privacy, peace and quiet, and natural beauty close to shops and tourist attractions. “Birch Lane” has all this, plus a few surprising extra touches to make your stay memorable and comfortable.
Fully equipped kitchen: “Birch Lane” boasts a dishwasher, full-sized fridge freezer, oven, cooktop and pantry, wine glasses and dinner settings for 4 people. Want to cook a roast? Or some scones for afternoon tea in your private courtyard? No problem. All the extra little bits and pieces are in the pantry.
Laundry: Hiding in your large, spacious bathroom is a washing machine, dryer and laundry trough.
Private Courtyard: a beautiful sunshiny spot where you can sit year-round and enjoy the garden with afternoon coffee or a glass of wine. (see our gallery for pictures). In October the wisteria is dripping with purple blossom. All the flower photos in the gallery are courtyard flowers. And when it’s raining, there’s a comfy chair where the sun streams in to sit enjoy the garden from inside the French doors. Our cat is happy to join you any time.
Queen-sized Bed: The queen size bed has a latex mattress, luxurious linen and a selection of pillows in varying fillings and profiles for guest comfort.
Extra Guests: The apartment will accommodate extras: a foldaway bed with a custom-made mattress and feather topper for comfort., a double sofa-bed in the lounge with a memory foam topper, and a porta cot is available for babies. See booking page for rates.
Air Conditioning: Your apartment is air-conditioned with reverse cycle heating and cooling.
Unlimited free Wi-Fi., Chromecast and a selection of DVD's. Plus a work station.
Guest Parking: Guests have access to covered parking and completely private entrances.
Staying one night? No problem. We prefer a minimum 2 -night stay but a single night is fine with us. And if you are enjoying your stay, you can book for longer subject to availability.

Summary: Stunning, secluded location. Central to all the sights in south Tasmania. Tasteful, comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Beautiful fresh breakfast every morning. We enjoyed our privacy but Michelle was a beautiful helpful host if needed. Highly recommend

Summary: We enjoyed our stay and loved the rural property and surrounding district. Lovely sunny cottage garden as well. Very good amenities with queen bed, well equiped kitchen and spacious bathroom. Although we didn't get to meet Michelle, our hostess was always available via messaging. A very comfortable stay.

Summary: Michelle and Peter plus Zoe (the Dog) are so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Decor of the cottage is gorgeous facilities all you can think of. Was so wonderful waking up to a view of green paddocks with cattle grazing.

Summary: This property is just right for two people, we were very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the beautiful views, the very well equipped kitchen, comfy bed and pretty local walks. Close to Cygnet and Huonville, the location is great.

Summary: We have just had a very enjoyable stay in Michelles lovely apartment. A perfect place to stay to sightsee, chill in the small settlements along the river or close enough to Hobart for some city stuff. Summary: We spent a couple of weeks here in December, over Christmas and New Year. This was a lovely spot to come back to each evening after a day negotiating the winding roads of Tasmania. The Huon Valley is lovely although the only views you have from this cottage are from the bathroom window or in the carport. However, the little courtyard offered a relaxing spot to sit amongst the flowers, morning or evening. There are many walks in the area (Pelverata Falls and Snug Falls) and plenty to see and do within an hour or two drive. The Tahune Air Walk was definitely worth the drive. The cottage is well equipped although COVID has resulted in a very pared back pantry, but who wants to do too much cooking on holidays anyway? The addition of laundry facilities is a huge bonus and save hours sitting in a laundromat. Michelle is lovely to deal with and responds quickly to any request and will help in any way she can.
