We’ve designed and outfitted our home to be an oasis of peace and luxury. Our goal is for our guests to feel a sense of deep comfort and to unwind in understated elegance from the moment they arrive. To feel like they can drop their bags and be immediately and completely at home.
Some years ago, we visited Sanssouci - an awe-inspiring palace in Berlin built for King Fredrick the Great. It was his escape, a place he could hide from the demands of his life and reconnect with the things that mattered. When we found our own escape in Vieques we felt compelled to give it the same name, but with a Spanish twist by adding "Si" to the end. It's not as hard to pronounce as it looks, simply say "san-soo-sea-sea".
Sans Souci translated means “worry free.” We hope that from the moment you arrive, you are able to let go of the stress of your regular routines and feel utterly carefree. Si?
LIVING SPACES
A brightly colored living room will get you in the island mood! Tall wood-beamed ceilings with multiple ceiling fans offer an exotic Caribbean feel and keep the rooms naturally cool. Generous plush couches invite groups to gather and reconnect, playing provided games and puzzles for a fun and interactive way to spend an afternoon or evening, following a day spent outdoors at one of the island’s amazing beaches.
If you prefer, the generous lounge chair and ottoman is just the spot to steal away for a few moments of quiet with the book you’ve been saving for vacation, and if you forgot your book, please help yourself to one from our extensive borrowing library.
If “chilling out” is more your speed, the living room also features a Smart TV with high-speed WiFi. Use your own streaming service to catch the next episode of your favorite show.
If you simply must check email or do a Zoom meeting, we’ve got a dedicated workspace all set up!
KITCHEN AND DINING
Our gourmet kitchen is chock-full of enough goodies to make any chef excited to feed the whole group. Features here include:
- High-end cookware
- Plenty of table and serving ware for both indoor and outdoor dining
- A separate coffee bar
- Stainless steel appliances, including an induction cooktop and electric oven
- And, of course, a blender. Pina Coladas, anyone? They were invented in Puerto Rico, after all.
We particularly love that our guests have direct access to the pool and gazebo right from the kitchen.
Whether you choose to dine indoors at our elegant table for six or alfresco in the gazebo, there’s no doubt all of your meals will be memorable occasions at Sans Souci Si.
BEDROOMS AND BATHS
On the main floor, the lovely primary suite offers a dramatic double-height ceiling (with fan) and a romantic four-poster king-size bed. Two armchairs provide the perfect spot for a quiet conversation, and you’ll love having your own private access to an outdoor seating area and the pool. How does a late-night glass of wine while gazing at the stars sound?
The ensuite bath feels like your own private spa experience, with double sinks, a separate dressing area, a soaking tub for two, and an oversized double rain shower.
On the second floor are two additional suites.
Both suites offer private balconies, beautiful terracotta tile floors, large louvered windows and ensuite bathrooms with glass-block surround walk-in showers.
The first has a king-size bed, and a private balcony with views of both the pool and the ocean that beckon you swimming! The second has a queen-size bed and private balcony views of the sandy beach.
A convenient half-bath is on the main level.
OUTDOOR AMENITIES
Soak up the tropical sun in your own private oasis!
Outdoors is a lush tropical escape with water features surrounding the large pool. Caribbean coral tile that flows seamlessly from inside to outside, keeping the decking cool to the touch for your bare feet as you explore the grounds. When you’re done taking a refreshing swim in the pool, you can opt to soak up the island sun on one of the many lounge chairs positioned around the pool or take a break from the sun under the outdoor gazebo. Perhaps here is where you’ll get into the routine of enjoying a cup of coffee or a meal from the charcoal grill at the outdoor dining table with the cool breeze of the ceiling fans.
You’ll particularly love the wrap-around porch - not only does it have a view of the ocean, but it’s also the perfect place for an afternoon nap in the hammock.

ABOUT VIEQUES
Vieques is a small island off the east coast of Puerto Rico. Only 20 miles long and 4.5 miles wide, it is nonetheless home to miles of white sandy beaches with clear azure waters. The beaches of Vieques are frequently listed among the top Caribbean beaches by travel experts, including Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler & Trip Advisor.
Vieques has enough variety to keep everyone happy - from secluded beaches to hopping nightlife to galleries, museums, and historical sites.
The Vieques National Wildlife Preserve occupies about two-thirds of the island - guaranteeing public access to virtually untouched beaches for generations. The preserve maintains the beaches, picnic grounds and numerous hiking trails suitable for all skill levels and ideal for bird watching.
Outside of the preserve, the island offers plenty of ways to enjoy the water, such as snorkeling, SCUBA diving and surfing. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are also available on the island. While here, you can charter catered half and full-day boat excursions through several local chartering companies.
If you need any more encouragement, traveling to Puerto Rico couldn’t be easier. No passport is required, and your cell phone and ATM cards will work seamlessly. Most staff in stores and restaurants will speak English and Spanish fluently.

Sans Souci Si is located on the north side of the island, in the Bravos de Boston neighborhood. This picturesque upscale neighborhood is nestled into beachside cliffs overlooking La Chata beach with views of the main island of Puerto Rico, El Yuqune, and Culebra in the distance. The home is situated within a 15-20 minute walk of the town of Isabel Segunda, the largest of the island’s two towns and home to many excellent restaurants, shopping, and art galleries.
It is also an easy 15-20 minute drive to the south side of the island where you will find the Vieques Wildlife Preserve, the town of Esperanza and the world famous Sun Bay.
Numerous flights a day are available from three airports in Puerto Rico (San Juan International (SJU), Ceiba (RVR) or Isla Grande (SIG). Vieques Air Link, Cape Air and Seaborne Airlines all fly to Vieques.
Alternatively, visitors can take the ferry from the town of Ceiba, about an hour from San Juan. Schedules and tickets are available at puertoricoferry.com.
IMPORTANT:
Reserve your on-island transportation early! Rental cars will sell out during peak season.
Similarly, taxis can also get booked up during peak season and do not go to all beaches.
You can rent golf carts and scooters.
Parking is available on the property for one car.
No smoking or vaping. No parties or events. Not wheelchair accessible. Not suitable for children under 5.
Unfortunately unattended luggage is not permitted on-site. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate any requests to drop off luggage before checking-in or leaving luggage behind after check-out. We can provide directions to a nearby luggage storage locker where you can store you luggage prior to checking in or after checking out.
