The Reefhouse is a peaceful Caribbean island oceanfront getaway. We offer one of the best values in Vieques!
We are just relisting the Reefhouse after 18 months of renovations - to add more shade to the deck, all new windows and doors, to add a new ensuite and to double the size of the master bedroom.
Overlooking the ocean, the Reefhouse has panoramic views and is surrounded by a tropical garden. You will be renting the whole one-level house.
Enjoy sitting on the large patio with the sound of the surf and the rustling palm trees, while watching the local fisherman and sailboats, the ferries, and the pelicans skimming the waves. There is plenty of seating for outdoor, and comfy outdoor furniture for lazing in. In the evening enjoy the spectacular sunsets with your sundowner.
Often the local horses will wander by. Best to keep the gate closed or you may come back to find them nibbling the grass inside on the lawn!
The garden has a huge mango tree - buckets of mangoes in season; you're welcome to them and also to the coconuts from the trees.
The Reefhouse is decorated in relaxed Caribbean style. This is rented as one house: you will have full privacy. The kitchen is fully equipped. Good beds with high thread count 100% cotton linens. The living room has a TV, games and a well stocked library, and indoor seating.
There are beach towels, beach chairs , a cooler, hair dryers: just bring yourself!
High speed and reliable wifi inside and on the deck (deck has some parts shaded all day and some sunny parts all day).
There are three bedrooms, one queen with ensuite (double walk-in shower) , one queen with ensuite (walk-in shower) and one twin BR that share a 3rd bath (with walk-in shower) .
A washer and dryer are in a laundry room on the same level, at the back off the 2nd Q bathroom, or by an outside entrance from the garden. Also clotheslines if you prefer since the breezes dry things quickly.
Both queen BR's have AC's, and the third has fans. And there is always a sea breeze. Note: the third bedroom, with twin beds, is best for children.
The ocean is just below the house across a small shore road. A good small swimming, sunning and snorkeling beach is a 3 minute walk (Lalachita beach).
Vieques has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Many are beaches with no structures near them- just sand and palm trees! They are on the former Navy land, a 13-18 minute drive from the Reefhouse. There is also Glass Beach in downtown Isabel, a short walk away, where beach glass is there for the searching, and great beaches for walking close by.
From the Reefhouse, the shops, two bakeries,2 grocery store, health food store, a deli, bank, bar on the water by the ferry terminal, the lighthouse, the popular Coqui Fire restaurant, and more are an easy meander away (10-15 minutes).
Vieques is easy to get to by a 25 minute plane ride from San Juan, Puerto Rico or by 30 minute ferry ride from Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Our property manager will meet you at the airport or ferry and ensure your stay is problem free. We're happy to answer any questions.
In Vieques there are no traffic lights and no casinos, but there are friendly people, good restaurants, and amazing beaches and nature. Vieques is home to the best bioluminescent bay in the world!

Summary: Having been to Vieques a decade ago, we were excited to return and show it to our kids. We had an amazing stay at the Reefhouse and did not want to leave! The views are epic (especially at sunset), the breeze and ocean are soothing, and the location is a great jumping-off point to other parts of Vieques. Beds are comfortable, and there are ceiling fans and windows galore throughout the space (plus air conditioning in the two largest bedrooms). The kitchen, laundry and bathrooms were well-supplied. The common areas, both indoors and outdoors, were wonderful gathering spaces for the beginnings and ends of our days with comfortable lounge furniture and tables that could have accommodated a larger family than ours with ease. I appreciated having books, games, and puzzles on hand to supplement what we squeezed into our luggage. Val was great to work with beforehand and had great suggestions on coffee, restaurants, and beaches for our non-confident swimmer. We practiced snorkeling at Playa Bastimento and plunked ourselves down the other days at La Chiva, Navio, Caracas, and Playa Negra. A real highlight was doing the biobay tour with Fun Brothers during a new moon. The kids loved Marshmallow Candy and Coffee just down the road; the family who owns it are lovely. We had a great dinner at Tin Box, too. As we expected, we left with many more things left to do on our list. We had a week full of pure natural beauty, relaxation, and time together. We'd absolutely stay here again.

Summary: My family and I really enjoyed staying at the Reefhouse! We even tried to extend our stay which Valerie was very quick to respond and accommodate, however due to our other reservations, we weren’t able to make it work.It was very clean and had all we needed. It had a large and beautiful deck (both covered and uncovered) that we enjoyed tremendously! AC worked beautifully and plenty of space to spread out.We would definitely stay at this location again and recommend it to you all.

Summary: My family and I loved staying here and didn’t want to leave! You can hear the waves crashing against the shore from almost any room in the house. All of the windows and doors opened with screens, and the ocean breezes blew through the house, keeping it comfortable on most days. The bedrooms had air conditioning, which was a plus! We loved using this house as our base to explore the rest of the island. The beach didn’t feel too great for swimming by the house (it was rocky), so we chose other beaches—there are so many! We rented a car, so we could easily get around, but we appreciated the nearby grocery stores and restaurants. There’s so much to explore on the island—the beaches, snorkeling sites, distilleries, restaurants and bars. But, there’s nothing like waking up in the morning and bringing your cup of coffee out to the porch to soak up the most amazing view of the turquoise ocean!The neighborhood felt safe to us, though there is a great range of housing within a few blocks. The owner had bug spray available, which was helpful. The mosquitoes are out in full force some days! Horses, cats and birds come by to visit. We had all we needed for our stay and the beds were comfortable. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

Summary: Just an ideal stay in Vieques on the north side with a short walk to Isabella Segunda. Recently redone with all the amenities you could want. Two bedrooms are air conditioned with good breezes and ceiling fans everywhere you might need them. Great for families or groups up to six. We had a wonderful time and definitely recommend. Checkin was super easy with a house manager who was attentive .

Summary: The veranda of the Reefhouse is the perfect spot to relax and listen to and enjoy the beautiful ocean! We enjoyed our stay immensely. The house is lovely and as advertised. The host and manager were very available and communicative. The guest information brochure was extremely helpful. We'd definitely stay here again!

Summary: Outdoor space with a view. We spent most of our trip out and about or on the deck (covered and uncovered.) We loved the sound of the ocean and watching the horses as they walked by. The space was great for our family, 3 beds and 2 baths. The kitchen was adequate. We didn't use the indoor living space but it would have worked for us. The property manager helped us check in and find the house on the first day which was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Summary: The view and privacy were outstanding. We did rent a car, and you would have been able to walk to some things, but we wanted to explore the whole island. The details about the property are completely accurate, and we had an outstanding time. The recommendations from the host for restaurants were spot on. Summary: This is a great property with tons of privacy and great ocean views. The house manager and host were great to work with and helped us with some tough traveling conditions that were not their fault at all (hurricanes, etc.) we had surprisingly great internet service during our stay and the house has a modern tv with streaming services ready to go. It is a bit of a hike into town so I would suggest planning on renting a car, golf cart or scooter for getting around. Also, a huge bonus is the washer and dryer on the premises. The washing machine in particular was significantly nicer than ours at home ;-). Great place, that I hope weathered hurricane Fiona ok.
