Positive: Recently renovated apartment with ample cookware and a washing machine. The village of St. Marie du Mont itself is very untouristy, yet it was significant during the Utah Beach D-Day Airborne fighting. It's a good alternative to St. Mere Eglise, if you're a D-Day fan. We visited in February and were likely the only tourists in town. Lots of.D-Day signage regarding the June 6 battles can be found throughout the town. Parking on the street just opposite the apartment was easy in February; ;it might be more challenging in June. Overall this is a good value Gite, but the owner could help by giving better information on how to use the appliances.
Negative: A 5 pm checkin is very late, and the property owner does not give you the lock box code until this time has almost arrived. The property needs a user's guide about how to activate the radiators. (The bedroom radiators were off and the switch is not easy to find.) There's no explanation about how to lock the doors, and it is not intuitively obvious. (You have to hold the door handle at a 10 o'clock position to turn the key in the lock.) The cooktop is an induction range, and not everyone is going to be familiar with this; its use should be explained.
Summary: Good value apartment in a charming village close to Utah Beach and D-Day attractions.
