Positive: We loved everything in the lodge: the tastefully decorated and recently built Cabanas, with huge bathroom, super comfy beds and cute terrace with view on the Gocta cascade, set in a stunning well-kept garden. We could not use the natural water pool as we were in winter season, but it looked very inviting. The staff all from the local village is very friendly and they served one of the best breakfast in Perú.
Negative: It is not in the center of the town unlike the other hotels, and a bit of a hike if you don’t have or want to use your car to visit the town, especially in the evening where you need a flashlight to see anything. Even the tuktuks don’t/cannot get only half way to the lodge due to the slope and “road”. That said, it was really not a big issue for the only night when we decided to have diner in the village instead of staying at the lodge, and did not regret it as everyone is super helpful and friendly.

Positive: Mamaq Tambo Lodge is secluded a piece paradise with breathtaking views of Gocta falls. The property is has only 3 cottages which adds to the feeling of already large lung spaces lush with greenery. The decor and appointment of the accommodation are authentic, aesthetically pleasing and with a marvellous attention to detail. The food is excellent at all 3 meals and the internet is reliable. The best feature of the property is the family who runs it. Carmen, Francesco, their son Leonardo and their support staff are incredible hosts and guides to the area. Amongst the many highlights is their Sauna perched on top of a hillock with a stunning view of the Cataracts. We will definitely be coming back to stay here and I highly recommend this fantastic property to all travellers, families or otherwise.

Summary: A piece of paradise with stunning views and brilliant hostmanship. A truly excellent stay.

Positive: Truly a place upon which we had high expectations; this wonderful Mamaq Tambo Lodge did not disappoint! Finding Cocachimba with spotty cell coverage and incomplete info from downloaded google maps, proved to be difficult as the town of Cocachimba is substantially off the main road ( Hghwy 5). Our host, Carmen couldn’t have been more wonderful , providing needed directions, then meeting us in the village and leading us to the lodge! Despite any difficulty with directions getting there,our experience was not tainted in any way! Our cabin , with its awe inspiring view of surrounding mountains and Gocta Waterfall, was beyond excellent and it had a wonderfully peaceful porch we thoroughly enjoyed after several hard days of touring and trekking . The location is perfect for trekking to Gocta Falls, and not too far from traveling to Kuelap ( one of our most favorite sites in Peru!) We were served deliciously outstanding suppers and breakfasts over our 3 night stay, and climbing to the overlook on the property to watch the sunset is an experience definitely not to be missed!! Carmen and Francesco have done fantastic work of design , building, landscaping and creation of a truly special environment to make guests feel at home in an Andes mountain paradise!! If you’re staying in the Cocachimba area, Mamaq is must stay !!!

Positive: Beautiful, large rooms with a very designer-look bathroom. Rooms have large windows with a view of the valley. The bed was super-comfy, but the best part is the hosts. We felt taken care of all time and we appreciated that hosts speak good English. Chef prepared a 3-course dinner every evening and each time it was a different menu. Wifi was quite good and could reach our room. We recommend booking a sauna which is higher in the mountain with an amazing view to the whole valley.
Negative: The hotel is a bit on the hill, so you have to walk down and back up if you want to visit the city. For us, it was not a problem.
Summary: Great and very relaxing stay in a beautiful and quiet location.
