Be prepared for an unforgettable vacation in this historic 1917 farmhouse that's the jewel of famous Maxwelton Beach. Enjoy an evening campfire at the private beach, right across the road from the farmhouse, while viewing a gorgeous sunset backed by the Olympic Mountains. The beach is perfect for swimming, kayaking, walking and playing volleyball. Visit where it all began on Whidbey Island with the Dave Macki Park just a short walk down the quiet road. What could be more fun than a baseball diamond and playground at the beach! You are only steps away from one of Whidbey Island's most beautiful beaches.
Completely restored and refreshed, this home is light and bright with views, from almost every window, of the 65 acre farm, Useless Bay, Maxwelton Valley and cows and sheep that graze on the property and on the hillside above. All the classic farmhouse charm remains but with updated furniture and modern appliances. The house sleeps up to 12 in beds, plus a few private nooks with twin mattresses off the bedrooms for the kids (or grown-ups) to camp. These nooks are perfect for portable cribs, too! Bring your family and friends to revel in the beauty of a hilltop farmhouse that's big and roomy but still has a cozy feel. Enjoy the privacy and convenience of upper and lower units each with their own exterior entrance (no interior staircase adjoining the separate units), kitchen, baths and bedrooms, perfect for multiple families or for the grandparents to have their own space and quiet. Wander down to the private beach for a swim or with a book to relax or just walk the beach a mile or so to unwind. Play a rousing game of volleyball on the sand volleyball court!

Reviewer Comments: Overall, a fantastic stay; great for the extended family to be together, easy access with first floor bedroom for the grandparents. Amazing views and a porch to seat all of us to enjoy it. Kitchen amenities were perfect. Upstairs bedrooms were hot and windows didn't open adequately to let night air in - we found one fan but could have used one in each room.

Summary: Great location with view of the water. The grandkids loved the cubby sleeping areas on the top floor. The fact of two units with separate entrances was not made clear in the listing, however it worked for us as there were 3 generations and the old folks could go to bed earlier in the downstairs unit. Also the top floor bathroom sink did not drain which make that bathroom almost useless. The contact people said it was a known problem so until this is fixed the listing should not say 4 bathrooms. And the games and toys were not in good shape. Games with missing pieces, etc. For the price of this house I'd say some newer coloring books and a few toys/games should be included.

Summary: When we arrived at the property we actually met the owners. This home is a perfect gathering spot for families or friends to get away from the city and enjoy farm/beach life. The home was very clean. Lots of original farm charm. There were ample dishes, glasses, cups, servings platters and silverware made it easy to NOT use paper plates. There were instructions and bins available for recycling. We rented both the upper and lower units. It was nice to have an extra fridge and quiet bedrooms away from the main house.

Summary: Our extended family had a wonderful time getting together to walk the beach during the day and play some games late into the night. The history and local feel is authentic and a perfect opportunity to get back to simple life and enjoyment in a house that has even more memories. Thank you!

Summary: The property management team was excellent and kept in contact before and during our stay to make sure everything was ok. The house was great and was very spacious. Because of the number of people we had both units. The house was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need, even firewood for the fire pit at the beach. The views of the water and mountains were spectacular. The beach was right across the street and had easy access. We would highly recommend this house to anyone.

Reviewer Comments: We are 5 cousins around 70 and the Farm was absolutely lovely and obviously beloved. it is accurately described and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was totally charming. I would recommend and would return! We beach walked and visited fascinating historical parks and fun shops and nurseries on the island. Dined at a favorite restaurant: Blueberry Hill. The sunsets from the deck were treasured.

The location is wonderful, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking for a crowd, the linens are great, and the house is generally very comfortable. Our only complaints are the toilet on the first floor is very slow to fill, almost feels like it needs repair. Also, several people (older adults) complained of the uncomfortable beds especially in the king room and upstairs queens. The kitchen could use a few clean sponges and possibly some placemats for the table. Other than that the stay was great and we loved the beach access!

It was a wonderful space for us, in a great location, and well supplied. Clean, comfortable and well-maintained. Large space to spread out and areas to gather. We took easy day trips to Coupeville and Langley and cooked dinner in the well supplied kitchen.
