Welcome To "Meant To Be, our Sandcastle by the Sea"
Where it's all about sun on your cheeks and sand on your feet! New bedroom flooring, paint and other updates for the 2023 season.
Located 8 miles up the beach from the end of highway 12 and ACCESSIBLE ONLY BY 4WD (and some AWD vehicles). You will need to drive on the beach in the sand to access the home.
Pull up to "Meant to Be, Our Sandcastle by the Sea", and find two carports with parking on each side. Parking in front of the home is also available. Walking into the entrance to our 3200 square foot home off of the carport, you will find the hallway leading to the game room, which includes a pool table, poker table, area to relax and watch TV, and kitchenette. Down the hall is a queen sized bedroom with an attached bathroom.
Upstairs, you will find 4 bedrooms, three king size bedrooms, two with private baths, one with a semi-private bath, as well as one bunk bed room for the kids. On the top floor you will find the dining room, half bath, screened porch, and ship's watch. You will also find the kitchen on this floor, which is equipped with plentiful kitchenware/appliances as well as two dishwashers. The ship’s watch offers ocean views and looks down to the dining room, great room and kitchen. The great room offers a smart TV, and leads out to the deck. There are decks on both the second and top floors that wrap around the home with plentiful seating including one hammock and two swings.
"Meant To Be" offers WiFi, Direct TV and smart TV's as well as a DVD library. For all of those that need to work during their vacation, there is adequate room and full range WiFi on all floors.
Enjoy our large sized private outdoor in-ground pool, hot tub, wide spacious decks, ocean views, home away from home feel. We also allow our guests use of our 2 seat ocean kayak and our canoe for canal use.
Carova Beach is home to the Corolla Wild Horses and about 200 year round residents. It is one of the last remaining beaches of its kind along the Atlantic Coast. Watching the Wild Horses graze among the sand dunes and gallop the beaches remains ever breathtaking.
Shelling, watching the dolphins frolic along the coast and catching some waves in the beautiful Carolina ocean all offer stress free, relaxing days. Be sure to look up to the star filled Carolina night sky and see the milky-way while relaxing in the hot tub each evening.
Remember to visit False Cape State Park just 2.5 miles north and enjoy the natural beauty of the undisturbed beaches. Try your luck at surf fishing and crabbing or enjoy just sitting and watching the pelicans fish. Spend the day shopping in Timbuck II or in the town of Duck then enjoy one of the many fine restaurants. Climb the Currituck Light House. Take a drive South on Highway 12 to Hatteras Island and Hatteras Lighthouse and enjoy the over 70 miles of undeveloped National Seashore. Continue on to Ocracoke Island via the NC ferry. Visit Roanoke Island (home to Andy Griffith) and the NC Aquarium and Lost Colony.

Summary: We had a blast at the house, which was well furnished to handle the family of 6 adults and 2 kids. Being 30 minutes north of Corolla was a factor we did not take seriously enough, coupled with a little hurricane that threw some weather our way to make travel more treacherous. All in a a great stay!

Summary: Driving 9 miles on the beach to the house was the only downfall. The house was extremely clean and very comfortable. We seen horses every single day. We did encounter some not so friendly locals who told us “locals know locals, we do not want or need tourists here” this is no way drops my rating of this house and the hosts. Excellent communication and extremely helpful. Some locals were friendly. Some were not. We walked to the fire department and bought our souvenirs was great to be able to support them and not a big chain store. I walked a short ways and picked blackberries for the kids. We sat on the upper deck for the most part of our stay and just enjoyed the view and the breeze. The teens enjoyed the downstairs and pool. The little ones loved having a room but would liked to have had a TV for them to wind down in the evenings. Also there was no TV in the room with a shared bath but we made due. We love to watch TV before bed. My entire family does. WiFi wouldn’t pick up for the teens in the bottom floor/game room so they had to use my hot spot on my phone. It was definitely a slow relaxing vacation. If you want to go and just enjoy your family this is the place for you. If you want to explore, shop, and be on the go then I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Summary: Everything was found as described and even better. The horses were around the house every day that we were there. Pool and hot tub were refreshing on the days we couldn't get into the ocean due to wind. Kitchen is well stocked and house is well equipped for all your needs. I suggest leaving the heavy items on bottom floor til you need them in main kitchen,,, the stairs are a killer at middle age. (lol).

Summary: This was our first time on the 4x4 beaches and we had a great time. We saw wild horses every day (even had one take cover from the rain in the carport) and loved the pool and jacuzzi! The dogs appreciated the provided blankets and towels! We enjoyed fishing on the beach and kayaking in the canals. Thanks for a great stay!!

Summary: Short walk to beach. Very comfortable house. All the amenities needed. Plenty of room and entertainment in the house. Drove here in an AWD Subaru Forrester without difficulty. Stayed here in October, pool was closed. Great time overall, would stay here again.
