As it is in old castle, the house has a large and confortable living room as well as a large kitchen and dining room. The kitchen and dining room have just been renewed with a wooden floor and modern equipment. There is also a veranda, with a fantastic view on Mont Canigou, as well as a terrace outside.There are 4 bedrooms, of which two rooms with a double bed each, and two rooms with 2 beds each. You have your own private parking.
It is a very quiet and charming place, which makes you travel in time and space.
The area is one of the most sunny in France, and you are sure to spend a lot of time outdoor and to get fit. it is also a good place to relax, read, paint ... The village has been very well preserved. It has got stone houses and pavements, and a beautiful Roman church.

Summary: high up in the mountains, the castle and its views were as stunning as previous renters and the photos had promised. Seeing the highest mountain of the area, Pic Canigou, right from your window and enjoying the most pristine silence was pure pleasure. Leaving all earthly worries behind in the valley was not only possible; it was impossible not to do so. However, this delight was a bit marred by the general first impression that the property made on us. Not only were the windows not clean, but the entire place seemed a bit like nobody really took care of it. There were cobwebs in places, mouse droppings all over the place; when we opened the coffeemaker, mold was growing in the filter that previous renters had left. The towels and linens we rented were damp and smelled a bit musty. We did clean up the place after our one-week stay—and we assume it was cleaner than what we found when we arrived.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay very much. It is a fabulous location if you like authentic old properties, peace and quiet, wonderful views and wild nature. We enjoyed the local walks, and the wildlife we could see from the house was stunning. There are swifts nesting in the front eves, and crag martins on the other side. Black redstarts singing before dawn, bats and geckos. Ravens, orioles, woodpeckers and rock buntings. There are golden eagles and griffons at the top of the valley. Our visited coincided with very hot weather, and it was nice to be in the mountains where it was a little cooler. Each day the view was a little different, and the buffeting winds you can find lower down were never too strong - only refreshing. Would recommend highly if you like all of the above. Merci beaucoup.

Summary: By far the best part about this property are the views. Just stunning! So enjoyable to sit on the patio and stare at the gorgeous mountain range. The house was built in the 11th century so it is rustic and we did expect that. Marie has taken time to make things comfortable and nice for her guests. The heat wasn't on when we were there and after contacting Marie she corrected the issue and had the heat turned on since it got chilly at night. The town is very rustic, there are no stores or restaurants or anything. Just hiking nearby. To get anywhere you have to drive down the mountain and travel a good 20 minutes or more to find restaurants and grocery stores. We enjoyed our stay but there are a few things that would have made it better: 1. It is an option for the guests to clean on their own or to pay 40euros upon leaving to have it cleaned. I think it would be better to just include cleaning in the price and have it done. I am positive the people there before us did not sweep or vacuum the floors. They were quite dirty with food crumbs, dead bugs, dirt, etc. Also, the oven was disgusting. I had to scrub off melted remains of some dinner gone wrong from the oven racks. And it just stunk of fish. Quite an unpleasant surprise. We paid the 40 euros upon our leaving to have it cleaned but I am quite sure we left it cleaner than we got it. 2. The bathroom lighting system needs improvement. It is an automatic sensor that turns on when you enter the bathroom. However when you are in the shower and the shower doors fog up it can no longer detect your movement so it turns off. Leaving you in a pitch dark bathroom in the middle of your shower. 3. The bathroom floors need to be finished. They were only plywood base floors while we were there. I realize this is a very old house and it is in the process of being updated but having renters when you don't even have the bathroom floors finished is just poor in my opinion. We enjoyed the hiking and the views. And if you like rustic, this is your place.
