Positive: The property was absolutely beautiful, set in stunning gardens and grounds. Our courtyard room was quaint and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Negative: We felt the spa area let it down a little. The cleanliness of the pool area and changing area let it down slightly.

Summary: Would definitely recommend as a relaxing stay.

Positive: Wonderful staff, very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Really stunning gardens and grounds. Only a 20 min walk into York (which was helpful as traffic was bad and taxis not that reliable).

Negative: The steam room was out of order on our visit and the spa was a bit run down and in another building (so you had to cross the road to access it). Our first room was next to the boiler room so too hot, but they moved us and discounted the room rate so that was fine.
