Positive: Small family run guesthouse with perfect location on the Philae Island. You get a guest into their home treatment, just tell them what you need and you'll get it. Rooms are super clean, food freshly made, location provide peace and quiet with the perfect view. If you are looking for quiet day on the Nile, adventure, trip through history or sandy Nile beaches, it's there.

Negative: Dinner was extremely expensive.ask about the prices before order.. The stairs leading to the hotel are high and uncomfortable for people with knee problems. ☹️😥

Positive: This idyllic lodge was just what I was looking for. The island setting is tranquil, overlooking the Nile. You can relax and enjoy this from the balcony of your room or the verandah below. There staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Dinner each evening after watching the sun set with boats puttering back and forth was balm for the soul. When you arrive, the lodge will organise a boat transfer from the shore to the lodge. They can also organise a transfer from the airport to the embarkation point at the river's edge - this is the best option. You can ask for a transfer to shore any time should you wish to do sightseeing, but would need to also organise a car to your destination. This lodge is not the choice to make if you are in Aswan for an intensive programme of sightseeing - this was not my goal and I don't intend this as criticism. When I did go to Abu Simbel, they organised a packed breakfast (you leave very early!), transfer to shore and a car to the pick up point.

Negative: The only thing to note is there is no kettle in the room but you are welcome to ask for tea or coffee at any time.

Positive: If you are looking for a quiet, romantic get away, this guest house is perfect. Balconies overlook the river, the rooms are elegantly built and decorated and the location must be one of the most peaceful in Egypt.

Negative: This location at time of writing is really only accessible by water. The ‘path’ leading to the village requires a scramble across building rubble and rocks. This sometimes created a sense of being stuck. This location, until sorted isn’t suitable for anyone with balance or movement issues.

Summary: We booked extra days whilst there as we loved it so much!

Positive: Everything was like a dream. The place, the view from the balcony of the room are amazing. Such a paradise retreat to go and disconnect from everything but with comfort. Rooms are clean and super new. Hot water and wifi super efficient. People there are so nice. They pick me up on a boat and organize a boat to go to Philae Temple. Breakfast also amazing!
