Positive: - okay for one night - cool activity to semuc champey through the hostal
Negative: - the window of our private room was broken (missed some parts) - showers has almost no pressure and only cold water - no supermarket nearby

Positive: The dorm room is spacious and comfortable. For the price they are offering , it is very good compared to other hostels in the area. Yes, it is a spacious, beautiful and comfortable hostel. The stay there was good overall.
Negative: there are no clothes racks or lockers in the room. The common space is not comfortable for sitting. The food in the restaurant is mediocre and the pool is less inviting.

Positive: Simple and basic amenities. There are no lockers inside the shared rooms. There is running water, but there is only one temperature- cold (really good after a long, hot day at Semuc Champey). The river is right next to the property, and was cold and refreshing (beware of the mosquitoes at sunrise and sunset). There was a truck waiting at the shuttle drop off spot to bring us to the hotel, and the truck brought us back to the drop off spot when it was time to go!
Negative: Remember that the hotel is in the middle of the jungle. There will be ants, bugs, spiders, and other crawling creatures. Adjust expectations accordingly. No air conditioning. Ask for extra fans.

Positive: The location next to the river was great. The tour to Semuc Champy organised by the hostal was amazing and fun.
Negative: The accomodation was very basic like sleeping in a shed with no air con just a very noisy fan. Full of tiny black bugs.

Positive: The view from the restaurant is amazing and very claming, the perices are reasonable. I liked the the room has single beds in it.
Negative: There was no hot water in the shower. One night, the shower steam stopped in the middle of my shower, it was really uncool. The beds wasn't really comfi.

Positive: Beautiful hostel right at the river, I could spend days chilling at the hostel grounds. Also nice to be in a dorm but without bunk beds. There is many showers and toilets, so you barely ever have to wait. The tours they offer were nice and staff was friendly and it is all Guatemalan run.
Negative: The food prices are a bit too high, though you can just walk to the city and get food, which is only a 20min walk. All in all it has a bit of a resort feel, also in terms of you not getting the most backpacker friendly (cheap) price in everything. I would have loved hot showers, don't think that it is a thing in other hostels/hotels here as well.

Positive: Staff were super helpful, friendly and fun. Beautiful location with pool and access to the river flowing past. Plenty of space in rooms, and beautiful communal areas. Felt very safe and organised.
Negative: The rooms are very rustic and basic, very outdoorsy.. not a negative but don't expect all the luxuries and then complain afterwards.
