Prepare to relax as soon as you step inside this spacious 2 bedroom, 1 bath country cottage with beautiful views within minutes of downtown Steelville. Viola’s Cottage has been newly renovated to include modern conveniences while maintaining original, country charm.
Viola's cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway, family trip or travel with friends. The cottage overlooks our family farm and has fabulous views. You will enjoy beautiful, panoramic views of the farm, barn and hayfields. Featuring a large yard, porch, deck and fire pit.
To begin, enjoy the complimentary coffee & tea bar. Relax on the deck, complete with a dining set, covered porch or outdoor picnic area. If you are seeking an escape to the river, it’s only a short hike or drive (.3 miles) down the hill to river access. Relax in the sun or shade and let the rippling sounds of the river drift your cares away. You may envision casting a line or skipping rocks. Bring your shade cover, lawn chairs and relax on the Meramec the river.
Inside the cottage, our kitchen/dining room is spacious with gorgeous views of the property. The kitchen contains natural wood cabinets and a full set of stainless-steel appliances, including dishwasher, microwave, toaster, toaster oven & garbage disposal. You will have plenty of counter space to prepare meals & snacks as well as being stocked with what you may need to cook a meal. Outdoor dining is available on the deck or under our covered picnic area, Edison/Bluetooth string lights with speakers provided and charcoal grill. Entertainment provided; Mini cornhole and mini washer games as well as many board and card games.
At days end, enjoy your cozy fireplace and settle into your leather couch. Enjoy your favorite movie on the 50” Smart TV with soundbar. As night approaches you will slumber in your spacious bedroom. Bedroom 1 has a Queen bed, Full size Futon, Leather high back chairs with matching glass top table and marble top nightstand. Bedroom 2 has a Queen bed, desk & chair, reading table and two chairs. Bedroom fans provided. Black out shades provide you with the best sleep of your life and ensure you wake up refreshed. Each bedroom is set up for remote working if you require it. The living room has a full-size sofa sleeper.
Linens, towels and basic soaps are provided.
The only thing you need when you visit our cottage is food, charcoal & lighter fluid (if needed).

Summary: A great location for what we were in Steelville for. If I had to make any negative comment, it would be the surrounding houses as you're driving in, that are in disrepair, but no reflection on this property. Luckily, you do not see them once you are at Viola's Cottage and only the beautiful grounds.

Summary: We stayed at Viola's Cottage for our annual rally race trip. Upon arrival, we discovered there was no power. Just as we were about to reach out to the host, Peggy and Jon arrived to let us know that power was out in the area due to high winds. They had provided us with lanterns and flashlights to get us through until the power was restored. They also gave us access to the basement of the house as severe weather was expected. No power also meant a limited supply of water from the well, so we opted to eat dinner at a restaurant in Steelville. We made it back to the house just as a severe storm hit the area. We took refuge in the basement during a brief tornado warning. Once things calmed down, we all went to bed. We woke up to a chilly house still without power, so we headed to Salem for day two of the race. We got notice from our host at about 11:00 AM that the power had been restored. We still had a full day of activities but were extremely happy to hear we would be able take showers once we got back. We didn't get much of a chance to enjoy the amenities of the house due to the storms. However, I will say the the beds were comfortable, and there was an ample supply of towels, washcloths, and hangers which is not always the case with a rental home. The house was clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked. Peggy and Jon were gracious host and went above and beyond to help us ride out the storms. Hopefully, we will have a chance to stay again under better circumstances.

Summary: Adorable, clean, and comfortable place with wildlife right there. The host has really gone above and beyond to make your stay seem as if you are staying at grandma's cottage or home away from home with the extras provided. It was also very clean and comfortable. Great place for a family or weekend getaway and have all of the comforts from home.

Summary: This cottage was the perfect spot for a weekend with my friends. It has everything you could want at your fingertips. We were just a short drive to the Wildwood Lodge for dinner and live music. The town, the hosts, everyone was so friendly. We hope to go back and stay longer

Summary: We stayed two nights and loved it! It was clean, peaceful, comfortable, close to the river and close to Steeleville. Great attention was paid to all the details to provide everything guests might need during their stay. The bed was really comfortable which is always important to us, the bedding was great, the towels were thick and fluffy, and all the decor was so tasteful. The rooms are spacious and the only negative for us was that there was only one bathroom. We thought about inviting friends to join us but were hesitant because of the one bathroom. My husband and I would definitely stay here again!
