2 Bedroom House in Safety Harbor Club, North Captiva

Located on North Captiva Island, in Safety Harbor Club, this comfortable home is conveniently located near beaches, pools, and boat docks. The house is nestled among the native palms, and has a private, wildlife-friendly setting you will love. Song birds and gopher tortoises take refuge on the property, and guests enjoy sharing the peaceful sanctuary. Beautiful beaches and refreshing pools are a short walk (5 minutes or less) or a couple minutes away by golf cart (included; see details below*). North Captiva is a bridge-less, car-free island situated in between the coastal barrier islands of Captiva and Cayo Costa. Transportation is provided by scheduled water taxis, private charter, or your own boat. The island has over 5 miles of pristine sandy beaches to explore and the southern portion includes over 350 acres of protected state park land. Golf carts, bicycles, and sandy feet are the typical mode of transportation (shoes are optional).
Guests of Gumbo Limbo will be registered with both The Island Club at North Captiva and the Safety Harbor Club and will have use of their amenities including their 3 large pools, tennis & pickle ball courts, private beach access and use of sea kayaks and bicycles. Through special arrangement with the host, a boat dock space can be rented for a daily fee at the Safety Harbor Club wharf (boat registration & insurance info will need to be provided for SHC). With, or without a boat, guests will enjoy fishing, wildlife watching or enjoying sunrises and moonrises from the harbor docks. In order to provide additional value and convenience to guests, Gumbo Limbo is currently including the use of its golf cart as an amenity for guests (*conditions apply, see details below).
Gumbo Limbo is available for up to 6 guests. The first level of the house includes the living and dining areas, the first floor porches and decks, an outdoor shower, a kitchen, first floor bedroom and bathroom. There is a queen sized bed in the bedroom and a couch with queen size pull out bed in the living area. The second level (accessed by spiral staircase) included 2 full size beds, an attached bathroom with bathtub/shower, and a small outdoor deck (perfect for star gazing or sun bathing). Starlink internet service offers fast reliable internet for guests.

1. Golf Cart Use is only offered for groups of 4 or less. If you have more than 4 people in your group, you must rent a second golf cart in order to use the Gumbo Limbo cart. "Boats and Fun", located on North Captiva, offers golf cart rentals.
2. The Gumbo Limbo golf cart, is offered to guests for their transportation convenience (to the beaches, pools and docks). It is not offered as a recreational activity. Cart use should be minimal.
3. Guests who will be driving the golf cart must provide copies of their driver’s licenses and complete a Golf Cart Use Agreement.

Summary: Gumbo Limbo was heavenly. The house is beautifully decorated and immaculately maintained. Everything we needed was there: a fully stocked kitchen of cookware, filtered water and ice maker, cozy linens, comfy furniture and all beach accessories.The location is perfect, quietly nestled in among the lush landscape and a short golf cart ride to beaches and resort pools.Sandy's advance recommendations, check-in instructions and welcome package surpassed what this professional event-planner expected.We had a few minor questions during our stay and Sandy's response time was lightning fast and helpful.Groceries from Publix/Instacart was a snap and very much needed. There is really nowhere to shop on the island the the little markets are insanely expensive.Advance reservations for over-the-water restaurant highly recommended and remember to bring your own wine/beer when you go there for dinner.We had so much fun exploring all of the beaches and resort offerings. We were completely "at home" in no time. Can't wait to return next year!

Summary: This property is exactly as described, or better! Sandy, the host is responsive and accommodating, though there were absolutely no issues. The home is immaculate and well appointed with everything needed for a carefree family get away. The property is private, surrounded by lush trees and plants; without a lot of cart or foot traffic. My family loved the outdoor shower for after beach sand removal! The beds and linens were very comfortable. Though an easy 5-10 minute walk to a beach, I would recommend a golf cart rental to comfortably explore the island and transport umbrellas, picnic items, etc to beaches with ease. Sandy is a very informative host, providing recommendations and considerations to make your stay as simple as possible. We thank her for sharing her home with us and will definitely return!!!

Summary: Our family of five stayed at Gumbo Limbo July 6-13, and everyone thought it was perfect! This property is very well maintained, appointed with just about anything you could possibly want, and is very conveniently located in relation to docks and the beach. Sandy (the host) is exceptionally responsive and helpful, especially if this were your first time on North Cap. She sends you an e-packet full of info on logistics, groceries, and island amenities. Morning coffee on the back porch swing was heaven, and the outdoor shower is epic, perfect for washing off the sand and salt! The kitchen? Smh, it's better stocked than our own! The kids loved the upstairs loft, with it's own bath, balcony, and TV. After a long day of beach life, they'd all just crash up there and relax. We've stayed in places up and down Captiva/Sanibel over the years, and combining this house with the overall North Cap vibe, we rate it the best. Thank you Sandy, we really could not have been happier!

Summary: Our family of six, including two adults and four children aged 4-12, had the most incredible stay at Sandy's beautiful home on North Captiva Island. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and convenience of this centrally located gem. The kitchen was a dream, equipped with everything we needed to cook every meal. The highlight for the kids (and adults!) was the ice cream machine, which added a fun and delicious touch to our evenings. Access to both island clubs was a fantastic perk, providing us with plenty of activities and entertainment options. Gumbo Limbo thoughtfully provided every beach essential imaginable, saving us from the hassle of lugging extra luggage. Summary: Magical island property, perfect fit for our family of four. We loved access to TWO swimming pools, the tennis courts, and endless beach exploration.
