The Wabash Dunes house offers the perfect place to stay for families, groups of friends, and couples, with spacious bedrooms and all the comforts of home provided. It's newly renovated with hardwood floors, central air and heating, and brand new furniture.
The beach is steps away - Reference Map attached shows exact aerial view!
Large bedroom has 2 queen beds and a trunk bed that sleep 2 so a total possible of 6 people and the smaller bedroom has 1 queen bed. The total that can be accommodated is 8 and we provide a pack-n-play for any small toddlers or babies.
The home includes a well-equipped kitchen with cooking and serving implements, charcoal grill & tools, a couple of beach chairs, wagon to transport items to the beach, linens and bath towels (not beach towels), basic bathroom (TP to start, hand soap) and cleaning items, and new appliances including: dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove, washer, and dryer!
There is wireless internet and a smart TV with the popular apps for entertainment such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon (not cable/satellite); or you could play some of the games we provided. The house sits on a large lot, about a third of an acre, with plenty of space for parking, fun & play including sports, and relaxing; especially on the wide wooden deck. When you arrive, you will be able to park right by the house on the property, up to 4 cars!
Beautiful Lake Michigan is very close to the house with beach access! There is plenty of room to bring kayaks, paddle boards, and fun beach items that you could store on the side of the house during your stay. There are trails, sand dunes, and woods of Indiana Dunes State Park and National Lakeshore Parks next door.
Property is located 45 miles from Chicago and accessible by train, South Shore Line. There is a wide variety of dining and entertainment in the surrounding area if you are inclined to explore or on a rainy day.
Plan for your stay accordingly, but here is a list of items to consider to bring: extra toilet paper, extra paper towels, personal items/toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, laundry soap, charcoal for the grill, food, drinks, and whatever other entertainment items you would like for your vacation.

Please note there is a SIX NIGHT minimum during peak summer months.

The occupancy overnight cannot exceed 8 people including children. Guests can have people visit and spend time at the beach house, but not spend the night. Large parties and gatherings of more than 15 people are not permitted.

Summary: We had a great experience! The location was perfect with just about 3-4 minutes walk to the beach. You can see the beach from the windows and the patio. The water was very comfortable and kids enjoyed swimming and spending time by the water. ( August ) We also loved that within 3-4 miles you have variety of different restaurants and stores. The house was clean and comfortable. We brought everything we needed for our family and the house had everything else. No issue while staying. Very positive experience. We will be recommending this property to our friends.

Summary: My family had such a wonderful stay in Porter Beach. The house was spotless and beautifully decorated. The pictures did not do it justice. It was HUGE and had plenty of room for at least 4 more people. We loved sitting on the deck in the mornings with our coffee and enjoying the beach view. The beach was by far our favorite part. It was so nice to be so close. We just packed up the chairs and the beach toys into the wagon that was provided and walked down the road. It took less than five minutes to walk and find a place. The beach was GORGEOUS. The sand is clean, and the water is clear. Sometimes you really do forget that you're on a lake. The living room is super cozy for those days you want to just relax on the couch and watch a movie. The town has plenty of stores and restaurants for anything you may want or need. There are several parks nearby with playgrounds for young children. The owner was very friendly and reached out the day before our arrival to verify that the house had been cleaned and to discuss how to access the place. I have stayed at several places through VRBO over the years and I have to say that this was my favorite by far. We will be back for sure!

Summary: We stayed in this house for a week with our 8yo, 6yo and 1yo. It was clean, comfortable, well-appointed and accurately represented by the photos! The kids enjoyed the yard space and the deck was very private. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. We cooked all our meals in and had everything we needed to do that. The beach access was 100 yards from the house, and we could see the lake from the house despite one property between us. The state park was next door and can be accessed via the beach. This time of year it was very quiet, but I can see it being much busier (and louder) during peak times with the public beach parking lot across from the house. The property manager communicated well and is very friendly and helpful! This is a great location to visit Lake Michigan and Indiana Dunes National and State parks. It’s always a gamble when visiting a property for the first time after scouring vacation rentals online, but this property did not disappoint. I only wish we had booked a longer stay!

Summary: We stayed here in July with our 7, 5 and 2 year old. The proximity to the beach was amazing! We had everything we needed in the house to enjoy a day at the beach. We loved exploring the dunes that were really easy to get to from the beach. The hosts were great and responsive to questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be back!

Summary: What a lovely place to stay near the Indiana Dunes National/State Park and a 1 minute walk to the beach. Hearing whip- poor- whils and the waves crashing on the shore at night was one of the most relaxing nights ever! House was clean and the owner was lovely to work with.
