The Wooden Helm vacation rental is located only 8 minutes from the Village of Baddeck, 7 minutes from the Gaelic College and entrance of the Cabot Trail, this lovely home sits on a wooded 15 acre lot just off the Trans Canada Highway. From the living area and overlooking the deck, enjoy beautiful views of the apple orchard and fresh water pond.
This property offers an open concept living area, fully equipped kitchen and dining room, 4 bedrooms (2 queen beds and 2 double beds) and 2 bathrooms. There is comfortable seating for 8 people. The master bedroom with a queen size bed has lovely views of the pond and yard. The walk-out fully finished basement includes a living area, two bedrooms, (one with a double bed and a crib/toddler bed and the other with a queen bed) laundry and a bathroom equipped with a shower. Summary: Each summer we’ve been traveling and staying at VRBO’s and A**B**’s. I We have experienced close to 30 plus homes so I deem myself a novice expert. The house does not have to be the most beautiful house to earn 5 stars. The location does not have to be the most desirable to earn 5 stars. To earn 5 stars across the board one just needs cleanliness, organization, comfort and the items you would have at home. It’s also important to have a host that is engaging and available if needed. The original concept of VRBO’s was your home away from home. This is that. Kristine has checked all the boxes. She was very engaging and available. She put up with my numerous pictures and silly stories. As a bonus it was fun to walk the property and to find a little surprise hidden in the back! Only downside this summer, and not the fault of the owner, is that everywhere we traveled in Cape Breton the deer flies were relentless. The location was great as it was central to explore the island. Out of all the towns we visited, Baddeck was our favorite in Cape Breton. Although, the house sits on the highway it is far enough back and with the views of the pond and woods we never really noticed the highway. (If that is a concern of anyone’s.) I always carry my trail cam on my trips and her wildlife fully cooperated in giving me entertainment! I would not hesitate to book Kristine’s property again. I just want to thank you Kristine for sharing your home with us! 🦊

Summary: Great for our family of 7- space is comfortable, providing all we needed for 4 nights- plenty of towels and convenient laundry room. Kitchen well stocked for meal prep. Loved watching the hummingbirds at the feeder positioned at the family room window.

Summary: House was exactly as pictured and in a great location. Owner very attentive. I noticed I had seen a review suggesting a bbq. It was there. Beautiful view and colors. Note the house is older and the floors are squeaky. The 2 nd bathroom down stairs is small. Worked out for 2 couples. Would be great for a family with kids. Would not recommend for 3-4 couples unless you want to share bathrooms and have small beds. For 2 couples we each had a nice queen bedroom.

Summary: Kristine was an amazing host! The house and property were exactly as posted. Our crew are long time friends, out for an adventure. Perfect spot for large families, or a group of friends. The kitchen was well stocked. Beautiful views, Just minutes from Baddeck, it's quite secluded, quiet and serene.

Summary: This place was a home away from home. It had everything we needed and was located a short drive from town and amenities. Also the gate way to the Cabot trail. The property is just lovely. Massive yard with fruit trees, a garden and a big pond you can paddle in the canoe/kayak provided. Plenty of space for our children to roam and explore. We even got to pick fresh strawberries from the garden... a big hit! The host Kristine was very responsive and thoughtful. We met her mother and husband who were very kind! We HIGHLY recommend this place, especially to families. Thanks so much for having us stay

Summary: 8 of us (lifelong friends) stayed at this property last weekend. It was a wonderful experience. The place was very clean, well equipped with everything you need (towels, dishes, and even extras). Easy to find and the owner was very quick to respond to questions.
