Outside there is a furnished terrace for alfresco meals and sunbathing, also lawns beneath shady fruit trees and vines. Chapa is a quiet rural village yet is just a few minutes drive from excellent motorways for exploring this beautiful region of Portugal. The historic market town of Amarante is just 10km distant with its many cafe-bars and restaurants to enjoy. Nearby is an 18 hole golf course, water park and indoor wave pool as well as a number of outdoor pools. Or you may prefer the natural attraction of the nearby river beach where you can swim in the cool, clean waters of the river Tâmega. Also enjoy walks or cycle rides along the newly completed ecotrail, replacing the old train route to Amarante, with spectacular views over the Tâmega vale. Free wi-fi access. Summary: Really clean and very well equipped. The owner and her mum live above the property but you would not know it as they are very discreet, they were also very helpful when needed (and they were but that is another story). There was a plunge pool in the garden which they filled for my partner without needing to be prompted or asked. The accommodation is peaceful and there is a beautiful river just down the road. We had not been to this area before but we will be back and will stay here again without a doubt.

Summary: Overall, a lovely, clean and quiet flat. The kitchen was big and very well-equipped, there was nothing lacking. The rooms were spacious and had comfortable beds (not something you can often say about rented holiday accommodation). The terrace was great - with plenty of room for four (the whole flat was roomy) and a sweet garden with a swing to chill out on. We were happy to have chosen this area - there is a lovely view from the flat, it is right by the ecopista and is within walking distance of a cute little river beach. It's really quick and easy to get to Amarante by car and it's also very close to Guimaraes (well worth a visit) and Porto. Jane was great - thank you for a lovely stay.

Summary: If you're looking for an hideaway from the hectic life but closed to the beauty of nature, this apartment is perfect for you. I stayed here for 5 days with my 2 boys (ages 11 and 14 y/o ) and my husband on our Summer trip around Porto, Portugal and Galicia, Spain. This apartment is very clean and well-equipped, surrounded by the beauty of nature. It's only a short walk to River Tamega where you can swim or just hang out to cool down in the heat. My boys could spend all day just playing in the river while I can just sit around to enjoy the view around the river. Jane Bailey, the owner of this place and also her Mum are very lovely lady. she's very helpful with all the questions about the area, such as where to go for a nice meal. If you do choose to stay in this beautiful apartment, you might need a car as to go to town Amarante, it takes around 10 minutes :-)
