Positive: Breakfast was varied & awesome; friendly & thoughtful host; outdoor sitting area with small pool & sea & harbour view. Sufficiently close to recommended/good restaurants. We did venture to the hotel area of Funchal but this just confirmed the wisdom of staying near the Old Town.
Negative: We coped well enough but always reminded it was on a steep slope - but this is Madeira ;)

Positive: Location, facilities, cleanliness. Lovely breakfast albeit a bit heavy for me but husband loved it.
Negative: Only gripe was sun loungers were super uncomfortable but wasn’t staying in Funchal to laze about a pool.

Positive: I had such a lovely stay at Quentis B. Heike and Jochen were so welcoming and even let me leave my rucksack there before check-in and after check-out, which made things so much easier. I was travelling on my own but Heike and Jochen made me feel just as comfortable and included as all the other guests. The place itself was spotless and had everything you could need. They gave me really good tips on what to see and do and the breakfast each morning was amazing. I loved having that slow, easy start to the day. It made me slow down and really enjoy my holiday. As a cheese lover, I was in heaven with the variety of local cheeses and the homemade jams were so tasty. The location is perfect. The accommodation is only a few minutes from the old town and a lovely swimming area. I enjoyed my stay so much and would highly recommend their beautiful home to stay in.
Negative: Nichts!

Positive: We had a lovely stay at Quint B. The place is even better looking in person than from the photos. The breakfast is glorious (lots of local products including jams, hams and cheeses). Last but not least, the host is extremely welcoming and helpful. It really felt like staying in a familiar villa.

Positive: It has never been easier to leave a 5* review as absolutely everything here was incredible. This is a perfect gem of a property, where attention to detail is off the chart. I'm sure it has been said by many previous guests, but from the moment we arrived it was an experience of pure joy - elevated beyond all our expectations by the genuine and immensely warm welcome from Heike, coupled of course, with a glass of Madeira wine, gorgeous surroundings inside and out, and the most beautiful, stylish and sophisticated spotless rooms. Breakfast deserves a special mention. Delivered on a tiered platter (like an Afternoon Tea), we were served a bountiful selection of fruits, yogurt, homemade jams, honey, syrups, cheeses, meats, breads, rice pudding, salads (rice, beetroot, carrot, fennel, beans...) and homemade, delicious cakes. I must also mention that every day, the selection of all the above was slightly different, and with each individual item we learned of its provenance, whether it be a locally produced honey or a cheese from the Azores. In addition, there was an egg dish offering to choose from and I particularly loved the frittata! The Guest Information booklet too was brilliantly put together, giving suggestions for attractions to visit, local restaurants to try, walking and jogging routes etc. all clearly mapped out so we could easily get our bearings. Heike and Jochen are clearly incredibly passionate about and proud of Quinta B and rightly so; it is their home too after all. Together with their small but dedicated team, they have beautifully created a haven of tranquillity and relaxation beyond compare and we applaud them all for their hard work, and for their values and principles which underpin it all. We will have many long-lasting memories of a truly amazing experience here in Funchal at Quinta B and without doubt, we will be back!

Positive: If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Funchal, then please look no further! Heike and her husband were so welcoming and have created such a fantastic atmosphere and place to be. We had the most wonderful breakfast of local breads, meats, cheeses, fruit and homemade preserves. It was great to be able to order additional things such as eggs and French toast the night before. Our room was clean and comfortable and we always looked forward to enjoying some time on the terrace, watching the sun go down. We could even arrange a half-day tour around the island and transfers to the airport. Nothing was too much trouble and we hope to return soon!
