Anytime of year, the Nest is the perfect spot for those looking to unplug and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life at our lakefront property. Every season has its own beauty.
Sip your favorite beverage on the upper deck or cook that perfect meal on the propane grill while enjoying the sounds of nature and views of the glistening lake between the trees. Take a leisurely walk around the neighborhood loop. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for wild turkey, deer, groundhogs, turtles, frogs, bunnies or salamanders.
The property offers approximately 2000 sf of living space, and will sleep 8-10 comfortably. The main level features an open concept kitchen/ living room with propane fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials, many spices, condiments, filtered water at both the refrigerator and at the sink. There is an additional refrigerator on the lower level. In the main floor you'll also find a bedroom with king size bed, full bathroom with laundry facilities. The loft area features 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds and a huge Big Joe for lounging.
Lower level features a separate master bedroom with king size bed (with additional folding cot in closet), a full bathroom large open area with additional couch, recliner and T.V. (dvds only) a pub table and stools, another refrigerator and full size pool table. The lower level has walkout to fire pit area in the backyard and a dirt path that leads down to the lake.
Since we value our lake time, there is currently no WIFI or cable here at the Nest, but we do have kayaks (2) with life vests, fishing poles (2) and plenty of pool noodles to use during your stay. Spend your rainy days or evenings playing a board game with your kids or watch one of several movies available. The Nest is the perfect place to reconnect with family and friends, enjoy quality time together and make memories that with last a lifetime. We love our time at Rough River and hope you will as well.
Rent a pontoon for the day at Nick's Boat Dock or head over to Rough River State Park to enjoy the beach, tennis or a hike on their nature trail. Great place for families and friends to come together.

Per Corp of Engineers there is no slip use available (you can check with Nick's Marina about renting a slip overnight or you'll need to trailer your boat in and out daily) The State Park boat launch is about 1.5 miles from the property.

Summary: We loved the easy access to the dock for swimming and paddling. The neighborhood was very friendly and felt safe and inviting. The cabin was well stocked with extra paper goods and linens. We were very pleased with our stay and all the amenities! Would definitely recommend!

Summary: This property was absolutely perfect. Everything was clean and well stocked. We were pleasantly surprised that even the grill was clean and ready to use. The location was beautiful. We were able to walk right down the backyard to access the lake. It’s also only ten minutes from the state dock where we rented a boat. Booking was easy, and the property manager was super responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

Summary: Was a beautiful cabin, and the kayaks were fun. Only thing that could make it better would be a boat dock. Fully stocked. Lots of movies to watch. Cell coverage was good enough for essential communications.

Summary: Our group had a wonderful and relaxing time on our trip. The pool table was so much fun! The beds and furniture were all very comfortable. The water was up quite a bit, which made the dock inaccessible. I had asked the owner prior to our arrival about the dock and there wasn't a reply, but that might have just been an oversight, since I also asked a lot of other questions at the time. It would have been helpful to know, prior to our arrival, that the dock was flooded. However, it didn't much affect our stay. The home was very clean. The owner has pretty much anything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay already stocked! Our only set back was some sort of critter knocked over our trash in the middle of the last night and then birds picked it apart the next morning. I'm not sure how that could be prevented and seems like just part of the wilderness stay. Overall, we loved it and are already talking about booking again next year!

Summary: Great property, great location. Very nice and spacious home. The interior was very clean and inviting. Owner provides everything you could need for a stay from kitchen equipment to towels and linens. We really enjoyed having direct water access, even though the water was very high during our stay. Kayaks provided were a plus for our children. We would recommend the rental to others.
