River Island House is nestled on a private, wooded island at the foot of the rugged Beartooth Mountains, on the West Fork of the Stillwater River in Nye, Montana. Located at the water's edge, you'll enjoy the amenities of the most discriminating taste, with the relaxed comforts of a cozy, beautiful 2-story log home. There are comfortable sleeping accommodations for up to 10 people, with 4 bedrooms and 2-1/2 baths.
Enjoy the spacious living room, dining area, and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, snuggle into the large, cozy sofa and enjoy the 60" tv. Sit by a warm fire in the evening or on one of the decks, just a few feet from a wild river with all-native trout fishing.
There are two large decks overlooking the river. Upstairs, relax on the comfortable outdoor sofa & two chairs. Downstairs, there is a grill, table seating for up to 12 people, and there are two Adirondack chairs for relaxing.
Just off the front lawn and nestled next to the woods, gather around the firepit for a relaxing time with family and friends. Wood-burning fireplace in the living room and gas fireplaces in 2 of the bedrooms. Note: The rushing water sound is soothing, though it can be loud in Summer - If you're a light sleeper, consider bringing earplugs.
Locally, you can find 100+ miles of roads for hiking, 4-wheeling, day trips, or wildlife watching. Multiple trailheads. Breathtaking mountain views and scenic drives. Local activities include hiking, bird & wildlife watching, Blue Ribbon all-native trout fishing, numerous back-country guides, raft fishing guides, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and more.
With a population of approximately 200 people at an elevation of 4852', Nye is a small community where people cherish the land. The Stillwater River offers sparkling waters and Blue Ribbon trout fishing. Many great hiking trails are near Nye, Woodbine Falls, Emerald and Mystic Lakes, just to name a few.

Summary: The scenery was beautiful! But was a little concerned about all windows being unlocked and some open the basement door not being able to shut or lock so someone could come up through the basement and into the kitchen since that door knob locked from the basement. Couldn’t use the hot tub.

Summary: This is the perfect place to spend a peaceful time surrounded by nature. The river right out the back was just beautiful. The trees all around were stunning. The cabin itself was very clean, well maintained, well stocked, comfortable, and homey. We especially loved the outside porch spaces. What a wonderful place all around!

Summary: This home and property will remain in my heart forever. Everything was as described and close to perfect. We loved the river and enjoyed sitting on the beautiful deck enjoying it plus the glider down by the water was so wonderful. This stay was very relaxing and peaceful. Definitely 5 stars!

Summary: If you are looking to spend time with nature in a tranquil, beautiful cabin - look no further! This is a gorgeous place set on a river island! Our family went for a fishing trip and came home with some amazing memories and great conversations had on the swing by the river! We had a great stay!!

Summary: Location was exactly as advertised. If you want an out of the way place with all of the modern convenience this is it. I would drive a suv like I did not a car.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay. The house was the perfect layout for our family. Nice rooms. Wonderful kitchen, beautiful decks and front yard for doing outdoor games. If you want a view while sitting on the upper or lower deck this is not the house for you. I learned that I do not like to be completely surrounded by trees. We couldn't see the mountains at all from the since the property sits low and is surrounded by trees and a stream. Highly recommend the property for those that like seclusion and privacy without a view. Overall the manager and onsite property manager were wonderful. We appreciated the family time!! We love the mountain location.

Summary: The cabin is gorgeously built..upkeep not so much ., 5 ladies for a 3 night stay .. Upstairs shower did not work .. the shower handle fixture needs to be redone, the stopper was gone so no bath could be taken instead; the downstairs half bath sink stopper was in need of repair ; had snowed earlier that day and the heat was set at 60* when we got to home .. the heating system is funky and took a long time to heat up. The walls are somewhat thin for noise retention .. the floors throughout home was not that clean; the hot tub was not filled but I guess I overlooked that it as its yo and running in mid May. Beautiful setting right by the creek and great deck with lots of comfy furniture., The man who built cabin lives near by so he wax over to see if he could fix the shower but he could not at that time .. I was refunded a one nights stay with out asking .. I think if these issues are fixed and the cleaner kept tabs on issues as they arise and make sure it’s all tidy and working this would be a perfect 5* .. at this time it’s a 3-4
