Everyone’s sure to find something fun to do regardless of the season. And while we’re so close to everything, you can always retreat back to the cabin for your own little oasis in the woods.
Chestnut Cottage is located a half-mile off the main road down an aged street that has seen better days. Road improvements are planned for summer 2023!
We often take our two little kids to the cabin with us, so we're very family-friendly. Unfortunately, we can't allow any dogs or cats in the cottage (we're allergic).
Beyond the cottage itself, we love how close to everything we are -- particularly the Shenandoah River and Harpers Ferry. The Shenandoah is fantastic for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing throughout the year. And the town of Harpers Ferry has been voted one of the top small towns in the US; the shopping, breweries, history, and restaurant scene do not disappoint!

Summary: Driving down the road and seeing where you have to start going up the mountain was amazing. The house was so beautiful and I'm so glad I found it. The private river access with the 2 kyacks was the perfect early morning getaway from the kids. * The neighbor brought us over fresh eggs from her chickens as well they were still warm which was so cool. Tony made sure to text us and let us know of good hiking spots and restraunts nearby. I will most definitely love to bring my family back

Summary: When we stayed there was a *very* strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. I think it's unlikely the previous VRBO guests smoked and more likely the previous owners smoked heavily and the smell is now part of the house. The house was nice and clean otherwise as was the location.

Summary: House was well kept, clean, comfortable. Amenities were nice, linens and soaps and shampoos very good. Good selection of board games. Hard to tell from pictures, but pool table is miniature and not leveled. Fire pit and chairs provided great relaxation at end of day. A nice stay.
