This lovely cottage is located in the area which was once home to a bustling port following the discovery of gold in the 1860's.
The house has good heating throughout and a full kitchen available. The property is fenced and very private. You will have the sole use of the property while staying and will not need to share it with anyone (apart from your travelling companions).
Whether you are on a whirlwind trip through NZ seeking to escape from the hustle and bustle of constant travel or a domestic traveller you will find peace here. The beach and river with their ever changing vistas are a one minute walk away. Bring your camera, or perhaps even your telescope.

Summary: Sandra’s place is absolutely delightful, an oasis in and of itself. It’s a complete home to yourself with well appointed rooms, full kitchen, washer, two decks to follow the sun, an easy walk to the beach as well as walkable to downtown Hokitika With all that it is still peaceful and quiet. Sandra was incredibly responsive, friendly, and gracious. We look forward to returning on our next visit to NZ and highly recommend you consider a stay at Sandra’s Rivermouth Retreat for your time in Hokitika.

Summary: We really enjoyed the stay. The house was well set up & given the wet weather we encountered it was a comfy place to stay inside. A dryer would have been useful though.

Summary: We had a very comfortable stay, the beds were great and a spa at the end of the day perfect. We were so close to beach and town as well. The TV we couldnt figure out first night and one heater didnt work, minor things though.

Summary: This is a great place for a small family or couple. Had everything you need and a spa! Nice to have Apple TV option and a comfy lounge suite to sit on. Easy walk to town and so close to the river/ beach area. We will def be back!

Summary: This was a great place to stay, plenty of space, and quite private. Every thing you might need was provided. Close to the beach and the town. The only negative is that the second bedroom is a wee bit small, but we knew that going in.

Summary: Four of us stayed here (2x couples) and overall we were happy with the stay. Smaller bedroom not ideal for two people, but it was ok. Spa seemed to decrease its temperature when it wasn't being used, low enough that it wasn't warm enough to just jump in whenever. It seemed we had to turn the jets on and wait several hours, then the pool would go back up to the set temperature. There were heaters galore, which were always on, so house was always warm. Kitchen could do with some deeper bowls (ie for cereal) as well as baking paper/tinfoil to help with cooking meals. Oh and the knives could do with a sharpen. The house was nice and private, and had Apple TV for us to log into a range of different entertainment services.
