Arriving at Riverwood Cottage, you will find a cozy (700 sq. ft.), two-bedroom home with large grounds running right to the river. The living room is equipped with a comfy couch, a gas fireplace and a wall-mounted TV with cable. Sliding glass doors lead to an expansive, wrap-around deck with a dining table for six. The deck has numerous other seating areas and nooks for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Russian River flora and fauna.
The kitchen is well-stocked with all the pots, pans and accessories you need to create a home-cooked meal, including service for eight. There is a friendly grocery store approximately a quarter-mile away and you can find a Safeway and health-food store in Guerneville, about 10 minutes away.
Don’t feel like cooking inside? BBQ on the Weber and dine on the lawn or the deck. There’s a prep sink and bar area on the lower level, accessible from the lawn, for your convenience. A second bathroom is on this lower level too and is accessible from the lawn only. Enjoy a cool drink while you watch the children play. The lower level shower/bathroom is ideal for rinsing off after a hot day or washing the river off the dogs!
Once you’ve snacked and basked in the sun, it’s time to wind down. Head onto the deck and soak in the hot tub while the stars come out overhead and the sound of the river rushing by lulls you in the warm water. The hot tub is tucked into the corner of the deck, surrounded by redwood trees with a view of the river. Relax the muscles you’ve used to swim, paddle, and bike through the day. Gather the family around the fire pit, tell stories, roast marshmallows, and let Riverwood Cottage help you enjoy your time together.
When it's finally time for bed, you’ll sleep well on the pillow-top mattresses. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed stocked with down comforters. The upper bathroom has a claw-foot bathtub complimented by plush towels and rugs for your comfort. Please note that the tub has high sides which may prove difficult for those with mobility challenges.
Maybe someone in your group prefers to have their recreation on terra firma. Tennis anyone? The Monte Rio Tennis and Basketball Courts are a ten minute walk away. In the same center you'll also find a skatepark for the kids. Or, drive five minutes to the Northwood Golf Club where you can golf on a gorgeous 9-hole course designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie, of Augusta National and Cypress Point fame.

Summary: Unfortunately we experienced the heaviest rainfall Sonoma County has seen in 122 years. Due to road conditions & flooding we reluctantly decided safety first and did not make the trip. We were extremely disappointed as it was our 50th wedding anniversary. We are hoping to rebook.

Summary: The location was great. The river was wonderful. The house was cute and accomodating, seats and bed are not comfortable, but maybe that's only for (middle) aged people.

Summary: We really enjoyed our stay here! The owner was the most responsive person I’ve ever dealt with at a rental. She checked in to make sure we had everything we needed and responded to our inquiries immediately. The house is clean and has everything you need. The bed is also very comfortable. Our favorite part however was the outdoor area. There’s a great deck with beautiful views that is completely enclosed which was very convenient since we brought our dogs. The backyard is amazing! There are mature trees throughout and lots of great places to sit and relax and enjoy the views. There is also a fire pit and the owner left us a s’mores kit that we made on our first night. On the left hand side of the yard is a bridge surrounded by beautiful landscape that leads to a pathway you can take to walk down to a really nice private beach right on the river. We set up chairs at the water’s edge and loved watching all of the birds including a Great Blue Heron feeding and all of the ducks with their babies. We will definitely be back and hope to stay longer next time!

Summary: First, let me admit that I'm in the hospitality industry. In my travels, I'm always 'sizing things up'! This property is a sanctuary - a cottage set amidst massive redwoods and open, sun-drenched lawn on the river's edge. The cottage is immaculate, highly efficient yet comfortable. Everything necessary to a wonderful stay is provided. And Sangeeta is the best! She's always in touch, clear & concise with her messaging, and with warmth that has made me feel like I'm staying in the home of a friend. I just departed and will soon be booking my return. Summary: Where to begin….from the first time I reached out to Sangeeta all the way through the booking process and the end of our stay, she was helpful, kind and gave us all the information we needed to know. The cottage is clean, very well-stocked and even though it’s small it would be perfect for entertaining as the vast yard and deck allow for all the space that anyone needs to see, breathe and feel the peace that this property provides. We brought our paddle boards and walked them down to the river access. I understand that it may not be the most ideal put-in, as it was a bit muddy…but you’re about get into the water, so not a big deal. The river was fairly low at this time, which was fine, but the view from the house was just only a tiny less than it could’ve been. We didn’t use the hot tub, but how cool is that??? Sitting in a hot tub, watching the stars, smelling the redwoods??? Our only warning is, depending on the time of year probably, but bring some kind of mosquito spray and candles. We got eaten, badly, within minutes of going outside to make s’mores. And we should’ve know better. Overall, it was the perfect relaxing getaway to celebrate my birthday and spend quality time with my Mr. Wonderful. Thank you SO much Sangeeta!!! I love how everything was labeled and all the info in the binder was so helpful! This is a place where we’ll come back to.

Summary: We enjoyed the home very much. The kitchen was well stocked and all was easy to find. The home was clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, and the hot tub was lovely! overall a very smooth process. We will happily be back in the future!

Summary: My friend Kathy and I just loved the Riverwood Cottage! We stayed for three nights and the time just flew. It was impeccably clean, lovely decorated, AND comfortable beds! Had to call hostess on a couple of occasions and she answered immediately and quickly resolved our questions. Looking forward to another visit soon!
