Set on a beautiful seven acres of wooded hillside, Homestead Hideaway offers you a unique opportunity to rest and relax within a peaceful setting. Located just 15 Miles from Galena, Illinois, our cabins in the woods can be your home away from home while you enjoy Galena, Chestnut Mountain, hiking, wineries, and all the other amenities Jo Daviess County has to offer.
When you stay at Homestead Hideaway, you can simply relax in our cozy rustic cabins, or get out and enjoy everything the area has to offer. At Homestead Hideaway you can expect a tranquil feel and a stress free retreat. The cabins are located in a beautiful rural area where it is perfect to have a cup of coffee or tea in the mornings and enjoy the wildlife. Let our cabins be a rare chance to unplug from the world and help ensure you have a relaxed and secluded stay. We are NOT able to provide Internet or cable TV due to the location of the cabins. However, do not let that steer you away from the beautiful setting. There are numerous locations in Galena as well as E-Town Coffee in Elizabeth, IL with Internet access.
We have two historic cottages located on the property and three separate rentals. The cabins are located on opposite ends of the property. You can enjoy the seven acres of wooded area by hiking or taking your dog for a walk. Whether you are planning a romantic trip to Galena, a golfing trip, a couple’s getaway, a wine lovers weekend, or skiing at Chestnut Mountain during the winter months, Homestead Hideaway will accommodate to your needs.
We have been renting the cabins for about 2 years now. We have decided to go beyond the brochure advertising and word of mouth and work with VRBO for our rentals. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.
This specific rental is the Seven Sisters Suite which is located on the top two levels of our main cabin. The lower level of this cabin is our Gleneagle Suite which is also listed on VRBO Listing #624157 & our other cabin on the property is listed as the Brimeyer Cabin VRBO Listing #624141
We now have a landline at the cabin. It is for local and emergency(911) calling only. If you wish to call long distance you will need to bring a calling card. However, long distance inbound calling is free.
Starting Mid August 2022 We will have passes available for ACL Nixon beach (15 minute drive) and ACL pool. You must speak to host prior to arrival for information. You must have tags and parking passes for these amenities and there is a fee from security deposit IF YOU LOST TAGS

Summary: Our stay was awesome as always. It's the perfect location while we visit family in the area. We've been coming up since 2017 and will continue to enjoy this beautiful cabin in the years ahead. It's always clean and our host always responds quickly. The full kitchen also allows us to cook together, and stay in during the colder seasons. The wood burning stove also brings comfort. Can't wait til our next visit!!

Summary: This was my second time taking my husband (and our black lab) for his birthday since we loved it so much last year. I cannot imagine a more cozy spot. The cabin is perfect, well outfitted, so nicely decorated and the living room has the most comfortable couch facing an amazing fire burning pot belly stove, which we used a lot. The grounds out front are amazing... they created trails for walking around which we loved doing with our dog. I cannot say enough good about this place... the sleeping arrangements are great, the large tin tub is amazing, the proximity to Galena is so nice and the host is a great communicator, very accommodating and so sweet. We plan to go again next year and were so sad to leave!

Summary: We loved the place, but there was no hot water to take showers or a bath. The water only got like warm for 1 min and then was cold. The cabin was cute, remote, quiet, and cozy. No phone service there, but it was nice and peaceful. They provided a phone line, movies and books.

Summary: I really enjoyed staying at the cabin! It was very peaceful and the bed was really comfortable. Loved watching the cows and I saw at least 3 cats I did not expect to be so far from town and it did keep me from going to some places later in the evening because I was afraid of driving in the dark but I enjoyed reading and watching the dvds that were at the house. One of the pcs to the puzzle was ripped also lol But all in all a wonderful stay!
