Situated on the shores of Lake Rotorua, Pourakau Bay is a lake front, 1970s style, family bach - with expansive views across the water to Mokoia Island and beyond. Set in nature, the bach has its own beach and guests can kayak and swim (depending on weather and lake conditions). It is close to Rotorua township (5 minutes by car) and is situated on a large gated section with off street parking. The water supply is spring fed so there is no need to bring or buy bottled water.
Town, and some of Rotorua's top attractions, shopping and restaurants, are all close however, the bach is a situated in a quiet area. Its a great for holiday makers, tourists and for those on business (or leisure trips) who are looking for a quiet, space to recreate and play and/or to read, write and work.
Pourakau Bay bach offers a modern, fully equipped kitchen with and comfortable furnishings throughout. Everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay is here.
The bach sleeps 7 on: one King, one Queen, two single beds with one roll-away.
Special conditions:
Pourakau Bay operates on two tariff rates depending on the season. Rates are applicable for up to 2 people, extra person is $35.00 per person with a maximum of 7 people.
Minimum 2 nights for off peak and 3 nights for peak season.
Peak season includes: Public holidays, 16 December to January 16..

Summary: The position of the house was absolutely fabulous. We were not worried about the distance from the centre of Rotorua, as many of the attractions we wanted to see were outside Rotorua.However we were disappointed with the interior of the house … it was quite outdated, the furniture was a little shabby and house didn’t smell at all fresh. However, despite our slight disappointment we did enjoy our stay, we spent a lot of time on the rear deck overlooking the magnificent Lake Rotorua.

Summary: We loved our stay here. I wanted a nice place on the lake where we would have beautiful views. This absolutely delivered. It was worth paying a little extra for the great accommodations and the location. It was right near everything we wanted: close to downtown, right by the gondola and winery, right near the Zorb ball (crazy fun), and close to the Kiwi Hatchery.The place was very clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Communication was excellent and the orientation book was perfect. We did have a little trouble with the dryer, but it may have been user error. Having drying racks and towel heaters in both bathrooms gave us a good solution. If it's not too windy, try the kayaks. They were surprisingly easy to manage and it was nice to see the beautiful black swans a bit closer up. It is so peaceful out on the lake. Just make sure to sort out landmarks once you get out there so you can find your way back.Kitchen and dining room were great. We were so happy we chose this place over the others we were considering.

Summary: Perfect accommodation for a family with easy access to everything and the house and surrounds are lovely. Beautiful outlook straight on to the lake, and the kayaks for an early morning paddle were a bonus! Would have loved to stay longer and would book again.

Summary: The property was OK, but now needs a bit of updating. We returned to the property again this year having enjoyed our stay in early 2023. Unfortunately, after two days of our grandchildren playing in the lake we noticed nobody else was. We made enquiries to the local authorities and were advised that it was unsafe for water sports owing to algae bloom. This curtailed many of the listed activities of the property and one child developed a rash on his neck. We were extremely disappointed that the health warning in force at the time was not passed on to us when we arrived by the owner, who was actually at the property when we checked in, either verbally or in the property information.
