2 Bedroom Cottage in Pathhead

Cosy 2 bedroom farm cottage on a working Scotch beef and sheep farm. Central heating throughout and cosy woodburning stove. Located off the A68, we welcome you to see the 1500+ breeding ewes and 100 cattle we have here. We lamb and calve from the end of March for around 6 weeks. Farm and lambing experience sessions are available upon request. Beautiful farm walks with extensive woodlands on site. Crichton Castle 5 minutes drive away. Lovely cafes, pubs and restaurants a 5 minute drive away.
On the farm there is a tennis court which you are invited to use at your leisure.
We are situated in a unique location, 20 minutes from Edinburgh city centre making it ideal for those wanting both a city and rural experience. We are just off the main thoroughfare to the Scottish Borders, with the picturesque town of Melrose just under half an hour away. East Lothian, with the seaside towns of Gullane, North Berwick and Dunbar is also a half hours drive away with fabulous golf courses, beautiful beaches and amazing eateries.
Sitting room - Cosy wood burning stove. 3 seater sofa with large armchair. TV with built in DVD player. Selection of books and DVD available.
Bedrooms - Master bedroom with kingsize bed and wardrobe. Twin room with bunkbeds and chest of drawers.
Bathroom - Brand new shower and bath suite, heated towel rail, WC and sink.
Kitchen - Well equipped kitchen with brand new electric cooker. DAB radio, fridge/freezer, washing machine. Kitchen table seats 4.
Garden to the rear with splendid views over the fields and outside furniture to enjoy alfresco dining. Ample parking.
Towels supplied. Hairdryer in master bedroom. Logs and kindling supplied. Unfortunately no dogs allowed.

Summary: Convenient and pleasant location for Edinburgh and the Lothians. Open views, excellent heating ,comfy beds, convenient off road parking. Helpful farm manager. A few minor tweaks needed to make excellent rather than good. Maybe a bit pricey as it is for towards the end of the season.

Summary: Beautiful location in open countryside. Great cottage excellently fitted out and furnished. Lovely and warm. Unfortunately the only downside was that every item of crockery cutlery and glasses and ovenware that we got out of the kitchen cupboards were dirty and had to be washed before use which was obviously totally unacceptable particularly during Covid times.

Summary: We found the location of this property ideal for us. It was outside the city and was nice and quiet. The vending machine on site serves a varity of things (the coffee is good) and can come in handy. We used the nearest park and ride at Sheriffhall which was nice and easy and took the stress out of travelling into Edinburgh. If you want a nice quiet base to plan some days out then this is ideal. Some good local places to eat as well

Summary: It was a great place to stay in a fantastic location.. The ground that the bungalow was on was beautiful, although we didn't realise about the tennis courts on site until we got there so couldn't really use them.. Being a new holiday let I felt it lacked a few things like board games and a few things in the kitchen. We tried our best to keep the place tidy but the hoover was a bit nath.. But the neighbour was fantastic and she was so kind and friendly with us and our children, she was one of our best moments of the holiday and hope to see her again in the future.. All in all a lovely bungalow and if we come to the area again we would consider using it again.. Thank you very much

Summary: Easy to find, just off the A68. Conveniently located for local attractions (Edinburgh, Jedburgh, the coast), very nicely decorated and equipped, lovely comfortable bed, beautiful view across pastures to the front, private garden to the rear. The hosts were always accessible but unobtrusive, how it should be! A very pleasant, relaxing place to spend a holiday, basically!
