It's the perfect base for enjoying the Coastside and the Bay Area, situated 40 minutes south of San Francisco and an hour north of San Jose. Decorated with a seaside theme, you’ll love our place because of how light and peaceful it feels.
Travelers visiting Seaside Retreat will have access to a completely private, self-contained ground-floor unit of a duplex. Two bedrooms have very comfortable beds (one room has a king bed and the other has a queen), luxury bedding, and quiet sitting areas. Relax after a day at the beach or sightseeing in the cozy living room with a flat-screen TV.
The kitchen island is a great spot to check your email or surf the web. Alternatively, there is a portable desk that can be set up anywhere in the unit for work-at-home-away-from-home comfort. Wifi and basic office amenities are provided. Printer can be provided upon request.
The kitchen is bright, spacious, and fully equipped for preparing a simple snack or a gourmet meal. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and easily accommodates 6 people. Fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, golfing, surfing, whale watching, biking, hiking, wine tasting, shopping, an elephant seal sanctuary, redwood groves, and even scenic flights from the local airport are all just minutes away. After a day of fresh air and activity, you can find several local spas offering a variety of treatments to help you relax.
It is a short drive to historic Half Moon Bay with its friendly Main Street lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Further down the coast, you will find the Ritz Carlton Hotel for a luxury cocktail or dinner.
There is a local bus that has limited service with a stop just around the corner from Seaside Retreat, however, for the greatest flexibility, Seaside Retreat is best reached by private car. In addition, there are Uber drivers and local tax services available. There is off-street parking available for one vehicle and plenty of street parking as well.

Summary: Our stay was truly wonderful. We previously lived in the area and were visiting to see friends, beaches and explore some new areas. The location is fairly walkable given the necessity for a car generally in HMB. The apartment had everything we could possibly need and the host was unbelievable responsive and even providing some items when we needed it on short notice. I can't recommend this place any more.

Summary: Mary-Anne, our host, was wonderful. Incredibly thoughtful and generous. The unit was incredibly sweet and had everything we needed. A full kitchen, a great shower,  comfy beds & pillows, too! It was also in a great location and close to the ocean. Looking forward to our next stay. This will definitely be our first choice. Highly recommend staying here!

Summary: The hostess is so responsive. You are welcomed with wine & treats, coffee & cream. The home is 3.5 mile walk to Half Moon Bay & opposite direction 1.5 mile walk to harbor. Great restaurants both areas. I will definitely plan to return here. Very safe area. Hostess provides great resources for restaurants, hiking trails, breweries & winery. Enjoy a stay in this home.

Summary: An excellent choice for our trip. The unit is roomy, clean and welcoming. Every detail was taken care of to make us comfortable, including treats, lovely linens, separate heat controls for each room, and, my favorite, a beautiful coffee station to wake up to. The owner couldn’t be nicer and we hope to make a return visit one day.

Summary: The house was perfect for our group of 4. Mary-Anne suggested fun hikes and restaurants for us to try which helped our planning a lot. We cooked several meals and found everything we needed. Overall it was a great stay.

Summary: This was such a cute place to stay for a girls' weekend! It was just the right amount of space, clean, bright and airy, recently remodeled in the kitchen, well-stocked, a quick drive to many points of interest, and walkable distance to the beach. The host was welcoming and responsive to our needs, quickly reachable by text, and provided suggestions and tips based on what I was looking for. She provided random little things that I asked for, like a white noise machine, a steamer, and suggested places to watch the sunset from. Having double sinks in the bathroom was also really helpful for our group! Note that one of the beds is a little soft so it depends on your preference--one person thought it was very comfortable while another preferred a firmer mattress. Also note that the couch in the living room is now white instead of black like the picture might show, which ties better into the bright and airy aesthetic of the rest of the place. Heads up that the listing still needs to be updated as of August 2024. It now sleeps 4 and the host can provide an air mattress for another.

Summary: We spent 4 days visiting the San Francisco area (including San Jose and Santa Cruz). This home was perfectly located so we never drove too far each day. It was recently remodeled and is beautiful in and out. It is walking distance to the beach too! The owner provided recommendations for sightseeing and meals - all were excellent. Highly recommend this place!!!!

Summary: My family and I had a wonderful stay at Mary-Anne's place. It was very clean and quite large for a two bedroom VRBO. We cooked in a couple nights and the large kitchen had everything we needed including an amazing full-wood butcher-block island. My kids and I had fun playing ping-pong in the backyard our first morning. This property is close to many things Half-Moon Bay and quick access to the HWY without being so close that you can hear the traffic. We could not hear it at all, which was nice and peaceful. We'll definitely consider coming back for a future coastal vacation!
