Cliffhanger Cottage was designed, built and loved by Peter Fernandez, the voice of Speed Racer in the original anime TV show. Situated in a National Park, the cottage is perched on a mountain high above the Caribbean Sea. There is a constant breeze and the views are stunning. To the east is Falmouth Harbor, to the south an exotic hillside garden and the open sea, to the west, the headlands and the island of Montserrat with its occasional volcanic activity. To the north, mountains tumble to the sea. A path that leads to the water down below and Rendezvous beach begins at the house. There is a bird's eye view of all sail races in the English Harbor Falmouth region. Classic and race weeks take place right below the south deck. Visitors tell us that we have “the best view in the Caribbean.”
The house is on two levels. The top level has a well-equipped kitchen, living room with marble floors, large three way deck and master bedroom with a double four poster bed. Off the master bedroom is a bathroom and large shower open to the sea.
The lower level is very private with its own deck and a bedroom with twin beds together, comprising a king sized bed. This room has the option of air conditioning or doors open to the sea, garden and deck. Across the deck is a large bathroom with shower and more views to the sea. On a mid level is an additional deck built especially for Yoga.
The house has cell phone signal and internet. With the sound of the sea in your ears, the stunning views you will be truly able to relax into the rhythms of the sea, the breeze, and the tropical birds. Cliffhanger is perfect as a writers' retreat augmented by the miraculous views.
It is also perfect for hikers, as a main trailhead runs near it. Guides can be arranged through our friend Dassa of Footsteps Rainforest Hiking. See his website. A 45 minute walk to the beautiful Rendezvous Beach begins in the garden. Another path goes down steps to private little beach. Occasionally Humpback whales can be sighted just offshore from the deck. At certain times of the year Leatherback turtles lay their eggs on the deserted beaches nearby. Frigate birds and brown pelicans soar past at eye level.
A short distance away is the Spring Hill Caribbean Equestrian Center where horseback rides can be arranged to Rendezvous Beach. Ten minutes away, the villages of Falmouth and English Harbour offer all amenities plus dive shops. A short distance over the hill is the beautiful Pigeon Beach. Sailing can be arranged at the Antigua Yacht Club, even lessons for beginners.
Many simply unwind, unable to leave the deck and its views. The sound of the sea joined by tree frogs at dusk makes for magic. In addition the magnificent sunsets, the night sky with all the constellations reveals itself with perfect clarity.
If however, you get the urge to leave the deck for a bit of night life, Falmouth and and English Harbour offer every kind of restaurant from gourmet to local cooking. After dinner, dance the night away to excellent reggae bands.
In the garden you may find a friendly feline lodger named Jasper. He may be a bit shy at first.

Summary: We hadn't been to the Caribbean since living there w toddlers. Booked this cottage to celebrate youngest's 30th. Absolute perfection--we're not hotel/resort people. We love quiet & solitude.That's exactly what this is--complete serenity. Location, views and open-window breezes are ideal. Be clear, though, it isn't just the cottage, it's the people.T'mara and Pauline went way beyond expectations to ensure our comfort and happiness, always. My daughter had an allergic reaction & they delivered benadryl & hydrocortisone! Also got to the root of the cause w unbelievable care & compassion. T'mara also helped arrange a surprise cake. If that wasn't enough, her reggae band saluted our bday girl at ShirleyHeights! The Antiguans we met filled our hearts, but none like T'mara & Pauline.Well stocked kitchen. Appreciated basics in place, so no need to shop immediately (again, relaxation). New fridge, hob has seen better days, but worked fine. Beds comfy. Hammocks...yeah. Yoga on lower deck (mats there). Gardens beautifully maintained by sweetest woman. Path down to tide pools & Rendezvous Bay (we drove). Awesomeness.Eating: Mauro's surpassed expectations. Colibri DIVINE. 268Brewery2 food trucks w drinkable beer. Summary: This is an amazing property and my wife and I had a wonderful weeklong stay. T’Mara is super responsive and kind and made it easy on us to relax and enjoy the beautiful island. Rental car is a must, 4x4 would be great for navigating the island and steep bumpy road to the property but we used a 2wd SUV and had no problems. I wouldn’t rent a small low clearance car. Oh and Jasper the cat is an amazing host and we loved having him hang out w us.

Summary: What a beautiful spot to spend our Christmas. The views are incredible and you can happily lose hours swinging in the hammocks. Would highly recommend you stay here. I am glad we had a 4 wheel drive car due to the road up to the house.

Summary: My husband & I had the most relaxing time at this beautiful home. The view will take your breath away! We hiked to Rendezvous Beach one day for a swim at this beautiful secluded beach. We laid in the hammocks and slept to the sound of tree frogs. T’amara met us at our hotel and guided us to the house, and was great throughout our stay . I loved sharing our stay with Jasper the cat! What a diamond in the rough!

Summary: We stayed for two weeks at Cliffhanger Cottage, in late June and early July 2023. We were there for a youth regatta that was held out of Nelson’s Dockyard. Staying here was an amazing experience, and we enjoyed it so much. The views are absolutely exquisite, and the sea breeze key us cool all day. We liked having the downstairs bedroom with the air conditioning, because it was a little warm for us at night, considering we were there in summer. I can see how you wouldn’t need that though at other times of the year. Definitely get a 4 x 4 if you are renting here. I could not get a 4 x 4 at the airport. However, there is a car rental place in downtown English Harbor, that we rented from, and they were very reasonably priced. Jasper the cat is super friendly, and we enjoyed having him around, and fell in love with him. 💙 Everyone that works on this property is so nice, and I enjoyed meeting everyone very much. In fact, I enjoyed meeting everyone on the island. Our car broke down one day, and everyone stopped to help. Antigua is a friendly island, and I hope that we have the opportunity to return some day. If so, we will definitely stay at Cliffhanger Cottage!

Summary: We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Cliffhanger cottage. As every other review makes mention of....the views really are spectacular - we loved simply sitting and reading on the deck and enjoying the scenery! There was a constant cooling breeze for the 8 days that we stayed, which helped to make the temperature really comfortable (no problem sleeping in the bedroom which isn't airconditioned). We loved the walks to local beaches, including Rendezvous, which is about 40 mins walk from the cottage. T'mara was super helpful - always very responsive when we had questions ahead of our trip and both she and Noel were really friendly when showing us around. Thanks for a brilliant holiday!!

Summary: Everything about the time we spent in this perfect house was magic! We saw double rainbows daily. The 180 degree view from the porch is amazing- no other houses in sight. The views from inside the house are gorgeous too. The cottage is open air so there is always a breeze flowing thru (and sometimes birds!). The shower on the upper floor is open to the surrounding forest- sublime. And such a treat to have Jasper the cat in residence! As soon as we left we wanted to come back!! And we will…..be back (depending on T’amra’s review😜)!

Summary: Simply couldn't rate my stay higher. Absolutely loved the Caribbean vibe within the décor & surrounding areas + the view couldn't be more stunning. I even got to see whales jumping in the sea while I sipped on my coffee. I didn't leave during my stay & would have stayed much longer if I could have. Sure hope I have the blessing to stay at Cliffhanger Cottage again sometime soon.
