Positive: Artistic sense and exceptional staffs. food are so good though no need to drive off. Here's a good place to rest and hear some drop of the rain, sees the light shades and hear the wind blow. So good to be here with my family and also I can enjoy many art pieces, delicately selected place on the hotel.

Positive: The hotel feels as if you were in an art gallery. We stayed at a twin room which was very spacious and had a private Onsen-Bathtub. The room was beautifully designed and had all the amenities you could ask for. This is a great place to stay in Beppu. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Negative: We only stayed one night. :-)

Positive: I did not want to leave. I opted for the half board so breakfast and dinner was covered. The range of food avaliable was huge and delicious. And you get many choices. The private onsen in your room was a highlight and the sulfur onsen did wonders. I feel like my skin will be soft for the next 3 weeks. The room was spacious, and the views were incredible. Very clean. The artwork was beautiful as well and you can do a gallery tour at 4:30pm (in Japanese only). Is a little far from Beppu station but worth it. This is the place to stay as a retreat and just soak up the views.

Positive: The building itself is the reason why I booked this hotel, and I wasn't disappointed. It's architecturally stunning in many ways, and so picturesque. Also the view of the whole Bappu city plus the shore line is amazing.
Negative: the room is nice but feeling a tiny bit run-down here and there. The real hot spring water in room is super super hot, which is nice that it's authentic, but a bit dangerous to handle because of its boiling temperature. Plus the smell of sulfites from the spring water fills the entire room. To me I'm ok with it but if you're super sensitive or loathe the smell of it, then you might find it a bit unbearable.
Summary: very interesting place to stay especially if you admire modern Japanese art and architecture
