Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included.. Patio with garden furniture. Juliet balcony. 2-acre gardens with summerhouse (shared with owner and other properties on-site). Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: This property has a natural water supply from a spring.. Peacefully set in 2 acres of lawned gardens, this beautifully furnished and extremely well-equipped holiday cottage enjoys excellent walks straight from the back door. Attached to the owner’s 17th-century home, Meadow Croft has its own terrace with beautiful views, and there is a lovely courtyard to the front of the property. The gardens are full of colour from the beautiful plants and trees in the spring and summer, and the view is just spectacular.
This is an area with lots of character, with hills that beckon the walker. For cyclists, the Afan Argoed Forestry Park, rated in the top ten in the world for mountain bike rides, is within easy reach. Spectacular drives over the inter-valley roads give amazing views, while the rich, rolling land of the Vale of Glamorgan offers many castles, interesting churches and manor houses to explore. The nearest sandy beaches are 12 miles, and the Gower Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famous for its beaches, magnificent coastal scenery and rich birdlife, is easily accessible.
Caerphilly is easily accessible and is famous for its magnificent castle and the crumbly white cheese which is widely available throughout the town. The capital, Cardiff, is well worth the visit and is an easy and compact city to navigate, with the River Taff flowing through the heart of the city. The Millennium Stadium sits happily alongside much older buildings including the castle which gives the city a vibrant and cosmoplitan feel to it. Tennis, riding, fishing and golf nearby. Multi-screen cinema, restaurants and shopping complex 3 miles. Beach 12 miles. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub serving food, 100 yards.

Summary: Fabulous cottage in a wonderful location. The countryside is beautiful and so peaceful, but the motorway, supermarket, outlet centre, cinema and restaurants are all within 2 or 3 miles. Paul and Keith are terrific hosts and on hand to sort out any problems. This was our third visit and we’ve already booked again for next year. Looking forward to it already! Summary: Perfect. Peace and quiet. Complete relaxation. The views of the rolling green hills from the main bedroom are amazing. The cottage is very clean with particular attention to COVID-19 sanitation requirements being met. We felt assured that we were safe. Any unforeseen issues that we had with the cottage were remedied as quickly as possible. The cottage is in the perfect location for you to be as busy or relaxed as you like. There are many things to explore close by. The landscaped gardens are beautiful too. We enjoyed eating alfresco most days, either at the table in the garden or on the deck at the cottage. Summary: This was our second stay at Meadow Croft and we arrived to find a brand new kitchen. The cottage is very well equipped with lovely, comfortable beds. It really is a little piece of heaven - so peaceful and calming with lovely gardens and lots of outdoor seating areas. Lying in bed, I was listening to the sheep in the field, a fox barking in the distance and owls hooting. I love the road up from Lewiston with it’s crazy curves and fields full of sheep. We were driving down the road one day and an old man in a flat cap was driving a horse and carriage up the road towards us. All of this and it’s only about two miles to a Sainsburys superstore, an outlet centre with a cinema and the motorway for trips to Cardiff or even Swansea. Paul & Keith are wonderful hosts and greeted us with fresh eggs from their hens and help with our bags. The only other thing I would say is that a week is not long enough!

Summary: We loved this cottage. 3 bedrooms all roomy and a lovely large lounge/diner/kitchen well laid out and easy on the eye. Very comfortable. Sadly we did find the mattresses a little on the firm side for our liking, but that aside whis is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. If you are lloking for peace and quiet this is the place. The oweners Paul & Keith were welcoming and even offered to help us in with our bags and we were also greeted by the pub landlord as well! On top of a hill with a chapel and pub next door and nothing else but sheep and cows and green fields and a view to die for. Cardiff only 30 minutes drive. The Rhondda valley 15 minutes drive. Beaches 20 minutes drive. Bridgend 15 minutes. M4 10 minutes.The brecon beacons 40 minutes drive. The area is steeped in culture and histroy and we would have loved to have stayed for 2 weeks. One week was not enough. in fact this would be my perfect retirement cottage. Great value for money compared to other cottages offering similar and we hope one day to book again and have that other week!
