Regional District of Nanaimo Cabin | Slow-Go Log Cabin in the Woods with Cozy Woodstove

1 Bedroom Cabin in Regional District of Nanaimo, Qualicum Beach

The Slow Go is a beautiful hand built log home nestled amongst huge cedar trees and perched next to a small babbling creek, lush with ferns.
Conveniently located directly off Old Island Highway and centrally located for exploring the island. Make this your stopover en-route to Tofino or North Island or stay for a while and enjoy this amazing area! Qualicum Beach, Parksville & Coombs are all within easy driving distance. Just a couple minutes to the nearest beach, 10 minutes to the quaint town of Qualicum Beach, 15 minutes to Spider Lake, 25 minutes to Horne Lake Caves & 45 minutes to Mount Washington, it’s within easy reach of all your outdoor pursuits! Simply a perfect place to get back to nature, kick up your feet and fall asleep to the sound of rain on the metal roof.
When we say hand built, we mean it! The cabin was constructed from the ground up with lots of hard work and love by Francis Provencal who lives on the other side of the creek with his partner Courtnee & their 3 children. From falling logs on the property, milling lumber, building the cozy interior, doors & shakes to adding all the finishing touches.. He did it all in hopes that you will come slow down and enjoy this beautiful land.
The cabin welcomes you with a lovely open living area. Hand peeled logs and real wood floors bring the essence of nature inside. There is a TV with a Firestick (for streaming) along with a DVD player and a large collection of DVD’s. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen with all the cooking essentials as well as coffee & tea. Climb up to the spacious loft where two comfy queen beds will have you resting easy or use the queen size sofa bed in the living area if you need extra space. There are 2 large decks - front and back, allowing you to take in nature and use the BBQ (propane included), rain or shine.
The Wifi works great but cell phones only work well outside the cabin so using wifi calling on your phone is a good solution.
Free designated parking area is right outside the cabin.
You will have lots of privacy and will likely only glimpse a couple people as your cabin is located beside just one other. The property owners live on the other side of the creek so you although you won't see them, they aren't far if anything is needed.
Pets are welcome! The rear deck is fenced but the yard itself is not so dogs must be well behaved & supervised if they are off leash on the property. Please indicate if you plan on bringing your pooch by adding them to your reservation.
There is currently a provincial fire ban in effect for summer 2024 so no wood burning fires are permitted at this time. If you wish to bring a propane fire pit, that's fine.
The cabins are on a well so we ask that you do your best to conserve water during the hot summer months so that it does't run dry.
We kindly ask that you’re not excessively loud, especially after 10:00pm.

Summary: We had a wonderful girls trip at the Slow Go. It was a little tricky to find, as the entrance isn’t immediately visible especially in the dark but once we got familiar with the surroundings it was no problem! The property was lovely, great fire pit, well-stocked and comfy cabin. Being close to the highway meant it got a bit noisy at times but not bad at all. The host was wonderful to communicate with when we had to troubleshoot a situation with the lock and fixed it right away. Would recommend to anyone!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful little cabin tucked away in a serene cedar forest in the Qualicum Beach area. It’s the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. The cosy wood stove made the cabin feel extra warm and inviting, and it was the ideal spot to relax after a day of exploring. Although we never met our host in person, we knew they were available if we needed anything, which made us feel well taken care of. The cabin is also a fantastic place to bring your dog — our furry friend loved it! There is a cabin next door, but the way the cabins and firepits are thoughtfully arranged gave us plenty of privacy. We really appreciated that! The cabin is well-equipped with everything you need to cook meals, and they even provided coffee and tea, which was a lovely touch. You will need a car to stay here, but there are plenty of great adventures nearby, so you don’t have to do much driving to enjoy the area. Highly recommend this peaceful retreat for anyone looking for a quiet, nature-filled getaway!

Summary: My best friend was visiting from Paris and we wanted a girl’s weekend getaway. I selected this cabin because it looks so typically Canadian. We had a blast. The cabin is lovely, exactly as described and it has a the essential. Little plus, there was the basics for cooking (oil, sal and pepper). We had fun chopping our own wood and using the stove to make fire, plus it was so relaxing to be in the forest, although a little close from the highway. The only negative point is that there was a power outage when we arrived and the cabin is not equipped with torches, and it took a little long to hear back from the property manager.

Summary: Such a fun little winter getaway, spent with close friends in the cabin next door. Awesome cabins. Fairly well equipped in the kitchen. Just take your own paper towels, tin foil and Saran Wrap. Otherwise it had everything you would need. Would love to go back in the summer
