Spacious Cabin on Cedar Creek - Make memories at Shenandoah's best hidden getaway! Cabin is on 30 acres of creek front property. Enjoy the quiet tranquility of the forest, take out the kayaks, do a little fishing, or visit our egg laying chickens.
Ideas for your Cabin Experience...
Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before breakfast, taking in stunning views overlooking Cedar Creek from this two-level cabin, deep in the Virginia countryside.
Cool off in the creek at the local "Swimmin' hole", which ranges from 2 to 4 feet deep, or cast your line in the hopes of catching a brook trout, or other native fish. Bring your PFD, fishing rod, and water shoes. Two Kayaks are available to paddle about - or you can coordinate with your hosts for a 2+ hour kayaking trip on the creek. Extended trips may be dependent on rainfall. Additional charge will apply.
Relax in one of two hammocks in the front yard or lounge down by the Creek. Spend the cool mountain evenings roasting marshmallows by our natural rock fire pit - firewood is provided for guests. Watch fireflies dance among the trees, while you sip a glass of local wine from our two-tiered deck.
Virginia wildlife abounds - walk the trails along the creek, woodlands, and meadows of the Cabin's 30 acres. Sit quietly and you may just see a doe and her fawn, wild turkeys, or a fox or mink. Don't sit quietly and you might see a squirrel. ;) Enjoy wild edibles when in season: Wineberries, Hickory Nuts, Walnuts, and Pawpaws. Yum!
We also have chickens on the property. We don't have a rooster, so you won't be woken by "cockel-doodle-do" in the morning. You can sleep in.

Summary: The cabin was very well kept and had great amenities on the land! We enjoyed every bit of reconnecting with nature, trying canoeing and making great homemade meals. The beds were so comfy and the all around atmosphere made it a perfect place to escape the busy life and reconnect! Rich and Mary are great hosts!!

Summary: This is a beautiful cabin with gorgeous natural light. The creek is very peaceful, and the location is definitely private (which is exactly what we wanted). Rich is a wonderful host and was very accommodating for our late arrival. Highly recommend!

Summary: The Cabin on Cedar Creek is an exceptional place. I wanted a place where I could enjoy solitude and focus on my writing and this was it in every way: comfortable furniture, nice dining room table for writing, and lots of large windows looking out on the woods. The cabin is equipped with everything that could be needed for a weeklong stay. The temperature was mostly in the 50s during the day and the 40s at night. A couple of nights it went down into the 30s. The cabin has an electric heater for the downstairs (great room) and one for the loft where the beds are located. They worked perfectly and kept the cabin comfortable. Upstairs and downstairs ceiling fans worked great to distribute the heat when needed. There is a wood-burning stove with some firewood available. This was a nice touch on the coldest evenings. The rear deck overlooks the forest and Cedar Creek. The creek has a small set of rapids near the cabin which create a lovely sound to go with coffee while watching the sunrise. A picnic table and plenty of chairs are waiting on the deck for you to sit and just breathe. The cabin is about a mile up a gravel road, from the main road, so no traffic and a deep quiet most of the time. There are other homes along the gravel road but not immediately near the cabin. Loads of privacy to recharge or create. If you need supplies, Strasburg and Stephens City are only about 15 minutes away. Rich and Mary are wonderful people and perfect hosts. I plan to return.

Summary: This cabin is a perfect way to enjoy nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Rich and Mary were excellent hosts. The cabin is situated on a hill overlooking Cedar Creek and was super cozy and rustic but also luxurious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there over Veteran's Day weekend. We enjoyed kayaking and walking the trails around the property. The only disappointment was that we could not have a fire because of the drought. We will definitely visit again during warmer whether so we can kayak some more and enjoy the swimming hole.

Summary: We loved our stay in this cabin. The owners have thought of everything to make it feel so comfortable and welcoming. The location on the creek is stunning! It is very convenient to the Shenandoah mountains and to Strasburg, Winchester with lots to do. Or, it's so comfortable, you can easily just hang out and enjoy! I highly recommend!

Summary: Rich and Mary take excellent care of their cabin and are very welcoming and hospitable hosts. The cabin was meticulously clean, and everything from the beds to the living area was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed drinking coffee on the patio while listening to the creek and wildlife, and cozying up to the wood stove at night. We visited the area to take advantage of hiking Shenandoah National Park and the cabin was a great spot to access not only the national park but also several other trailheads. Would definitely return again in summer to take advantage of swimming/kayaking in the creek!

Summary: This was the perfect property for a couple. We enjoyed the quiet. The property was also close enough to towns and cities for that type of entertainment. Also close to many wonderful outdoor activities.

Summary: This cabin was exactly what we were looking for, private, peaceful, and perfect. We were in need of a respite and we never left the house during our stay. We grilled steaks, we napped, we talked and relaxed. It is a magical place, and we loved everything about it. Bravo Rich and Mary!!!

Summary: Cabin was cozy and spotless with great views of the creek. So quiet and relaxing. Fishing was perfect our little guy caught some small mouth bass and blue gills.
